Update On My Niece, Daughter, and Me

My niece is still alive but in a deep coma.  She is by no means out of the
woods, and there is no way of knowing if she will ever come out of the
comma.  The pressure in her brain has gone down slightly, but not as much as
they had hoped for when they decided to remove the piece of her skull.

The clot was in the main cerebral artery on the left side.  It was an "old"
clot that had been somewhere else in her body, probably since the twins were
born, and moved into her brain Wednesday night.  The artery tore when they
tried to remove it, causing massive bleeding in the brain.

Every hour she survives gives us more hope, but the reality of what is ahead
for her, her husband, and the rest of the family is just beginning to sink
in.

Amanda is done with her dose packs and the inflammation and fatigue are back
in full force.  She is being a real trooper though.  I rarely here a
complaint out of her.  We see the RD again in two weeks, but I am going to
call him Monday and let him know how she is doing now that she is off the
prednisone.

I saw the hand surgeon yesterday.  He thinks the nodule on the palmer aspect
is a ganglion cyst.  He injected it to see if it would go down.  If it isn't
significantly better in two weeks, we'll just take it out.  I will only miss
one day of work for that.

The nodules on my MIP and PIP joints are growing larger but he doesn't want
to look at them until my RA is back under control.  I talk to my RD on
Monday about that.  She should have all the labs by then.

Anyway, that's the update.  Thanks so much for the cards and prayers.  You
are all the best.

Walt, my heart just aches for Natalia's husband and children, and all the
family.  That is such a sad thing to happen to a young family.  Will be
praying she will come out of the coma and will not have major problems.

Prayers for all, Walt.   It's been a while since we heard how Micah is
doing.   I hope that means good news, and that he is doing much better
than the last couple of years.    How's Wendy handling this all?

Micah is doing well.  We are just waiting to find out if the Church is going
to let him go on a mission.  Their medical review committee is reviewing his
records now.  They don't want anyone put at risk by sending them on a
mission, which is understandable.

As far as my niece goes, the news is not good.  She was declared brain dead
early this afternoon.  Her husband is not quite ready to let her go, but it
won't be long now.

I want you all to know that your prayers have been felt and appreciated.  I
don't know why Natalia was called home at this young age, but I know God has
a reason.  Our challenge is to have faith enough to accept His will.

Wendy is very upset, but handling it all.  She is always a tower of faith
and strength.

Oh, dear, Walt, I am so very sorry to hear this about your niece!  My
most sincere condolences to you and to all who know and loved Natalia!!!
Having just gone through this with my brother just 3 short months ago, I
can truly understand the pain and agony of letting go!   May you all
find a bit of peace and great strength during this most difficult of
times!!!    God bless those little ones who will be left without their
mother.

Gentle hugs,

Donna G

So so sad! May Natalia, and her whole family, be blessed with strength
endurance at this difficult time.

In Judaism, when we hear of a death, the appropriate response is to say,
"Blessed is the true Judge."

Sending love and comfort -

I try to imagine how your family feels and cannot even begin to wrap my mind
around such a thing.  I hope they all have the faith and hope and strength
to survive this.

But I know my prayers include "Thank you God that she had her year with her
babies.  That she had that year and didn't know to fear it would end."

Walt,

To say that your families plate is full at this time is such an
understatement.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
members as you meet each and every new development as it unfolds hour by
hour.  I know your strength and your faith will get you all through this.

still sending prayers for neice and all the family going thru this terrible
ordeal. I don't know  how you keep going with all that is going on in your
family. It shows me how strong you and your family are.

My heart goes out to those 1 yr old twins. My heart is breaking for them.

I sure hope a miracle occurs.
