Wearing my custom made plastic wrist splint, prescribed by orthopedic
doc.  Was in a heck of a lotta pain today. I had to grab it and put it
on.

Have necrosis (bone death) in left wrist--and OA in both now--even my
right hand.  The pain mostly goes away when I wear it.--because it is
forced to stay straight

Do you wear a splint?

I cut off the top of a sock--and cut a hole for the thumb to wear under
the splint.

My wrists were the worst bit.  One slight miscalculation would send me into
spasms of agony, so I can see that splints would be good.

I refused fusion of my wrist--because Range of Motion would be reduced

which is the reason for the splint--to rest a sore painful wrist or as a
support when lifting heavy things.

If also keeps you from over-using the wrist

to rest it

I have specially made splints for both wrists. I don't know what
would've happened without them.
For me, they are especially helpful at night. I tend to bend my wrists
in really strange ways while I am asleep, and would wake up in agony.
Now that I have the splints, I rarely have pain when I wake up.
I also wear them a lot during the day when I am typing a lot.

I have had luck using the padded splint called Pil-0-Splint at night.
Sometimes, when my wrists hurt during the day, I put on a splint for half
and hour, and that really helps. You cannot use the splint  when typing...it
is too bulky. It has been the only thing that has helped me.

dear life!

and you wonder why my wrist hurts.....

So do I  but  try not to bend the wrist when I sleep--when I don't  wear
it to bed
