I'm getting frustrated.... sometimes I wish I could just crazy glue her butt
to her chair...

AZ and heart failure are a lousy combination .... physically she's just not
up to much ... but her judgement is so poor that she just doesn't know
enough to take it easy.

thinks I'm a total shrew because I keep trying to get her to sit, put her
feet up (they swell to enormous propotions), etc....

yesterday, I was away - went to get my (20-yr-old) kid, who's going to stay
with us for a while - be an extra mama-sitter so that I can go to work again
for a few hours a day ...   MIL got it into her head to go rake the yard!

I've taken over what she sees as ~her~ job, i.e. doing the dishes after
breakfast ....  she's fussing with redoing stuff and wiping counters,
etc...even though she can hardly breathe - taking huge gasping breaths
...... apparently I didn't do a good enough job. Hard not to take it as
that, anyway ... though the reality is probably just that she needs to feel
useful still

but sitting here listening to her is a LOT harder than taking over would be.

Maybe I need to find her some sitting down 'jobs' to do - the only one of
those she has right now that I can think of  is opening all the pill
containers when I pour her meds (once/week) ....   oh, and pressing down
cookies when she bakes with the thursday lady.  Need a daily after breakfast
sort of job for her .... any suggestions?

Could give her the silverware to dry (sitting at the table) I suppose......

What about folding laundry, maybe?  Bring her a basket of towels and lighweight
things from the dryer for her to fold?  Or match up all the socks and fold them
into pairs?

Just a thought.

Best of luck to you!

Hi Lee,
My Mom loved rolling coins into their wrappers. She even
separated them for a few months before I just gave her 1
denomination with their wrappers. Didn't matter how many went in
cause I just "turned them into the bank" and happened to find
more the next day. What about cutting pictures out of magazines,
birdfeeders, fish tanks(I found a lamp that had fish in it, no
feeding and no cleaning), coloring books, "scrapbooking". Just
put a pile of stuff in front of her and see where she goes with
it.
