Dear Friends,
I guess it's been more than a month since I've taken time to write.
First of all, I must apologize to all of you; I always make it a
point to read all of your postings before writing so that I know the
latest about everyone. I just can't do that this time, so maybe
someone can quickly bring me up to date on the old timers?
This is the last week of John being on the starter kit for namenda.
Next week he will start the steady dosage of 10mg twice a day. I
believe he is doing really well with it. There is more agitation the
first few days the dosage changes but by the end of each week he has
adjusted & is doing okay. The agitation hasn't been nearly as bad as
I expected. Physically, he seems to be moving better & mentally, he
doesn't seem to have as many spaced out hours. He still has problems
with talking but even that has improved somewhat. He is even burning
discs for friends & talking to his best friend from PR on the phone.
Hope you are all doing okay. We have had a lot going on---company,
work on the house, & I had another TIA which slowed me down for a few
days----fine now though. Our daughter has moved back to Va so I have
been busy with a lot of stuff.
Always,
Char

Dear Char:
Sorry about the tia! I'm glad that you're recovering from it though.
Also very happy to hear that John is doing well with the Namenda. And he's
able to burn CDs again! Wonderful!!
I've been mostly just lurking around here lately, but I just had to write
to you.
Love,
Mary K

Perhaps I'm one of those young old-timers. ;-). June 13th was the 1
year anniversary(?) of my Dad's passing, so we (my Mother, brother and
I) went for Golden Griddle (kinda like an IHOP) but I couldn't honour
him by stuffing myself at the breakfast buffet--just stuck with
chocolate chip pancakes with whip cream and maple syrup. Mmmmmhmm.
I'm still trying to keep on top of the latest research but it's being
published at a rate that is both tiring and very promising at the same
time!
Is John still ok with going out? (if I recall correctly he was getting
a little paranoid). I'm especially glad to hear that he is doing well
on the Namenda and that he's burning CDs!
As for you having *another* TIA, I didn't realize you had a first!
Make sure you keep taking your aspirin or clopidogrel and eat those
fruits and vegetables ;-).
Take care you and John,
Darryl.
