Is there anyplace you can take an alz patient to be bathed?  Health care
workers that come to the home usually have 4 hour minimums and that is
expensive.  There ought to be a place you could take the patient to be
bathed at an appointed time without having to pay thru the nose everyday.
Does anyone know about anything like this?

In our local daycare center they would bathe a patient on occasion.  But I
think they had to be a regular attendee at the center.

You can sometimes find a privately hired individual who might agree to come
and bathe someone on a "per occasion" basis.   Try asking around or running
an ad.

I suppose they are called care homes.I cant see it would be a paying
proposition to set up an institution just to do this and of pretty limited
use.You are assuming the cost of bathing someone in such a place would be
substantially less than the carer visiting your home (1hr vs 4), but you are
forgetting that the building would need to be purchased and run, all of
which would need to be paid for. So an hour in such a place might cost the
same as a 4 hr wage for a person visiting your home anyway.

Just thought of something.   If the caretaker who bathes your loved one must
be paid for 4 hours, why not make it your time for a weekly shopping trip or
other outing?   Taking the time to get some lunch out and escape for 4
hours, then coming home to a nice clean situation doesn't sound like such a
bad deal after all!

In Green Bay, WI the adult day care facility will do bathing a la
carte for $20.00.  You might check the adult day care facility in your
region if you have one.
