Hi everyone,

I have lurked here off and on for quite a long time so thought I better
introduce myself.

I am in Australia, just North of Sydney and my MIL has AD (middle stage I
believe). I originally came to this ng to get info on any new treatments
available at my FIL's (her carer) request and have passed quite a lot of
info over to him which was resourced here. Thank You.

I haven't introduced myself before as I have quite a busy life with 4
children, the youngest with an Autistic Disorder. I am not directly involved
in my MIL's care however I am a support for my FIL.

I also am in the middle of a 17 week course to become a Nurse's aide and
have spent quite some hours participating in Clinical Practice at a Nursing
home. I thought maybe I could contribute something, especially after
Evelyn's post about Ida going into a NH tomorrow.

Evelyn, I have followed your story with Ida right from the beginning when
you had to clean out her home and you have my utmost admiration for the
loving care you and your husband have given her. I hope when/if my time
comes to need care that I am as blessed as Ida has been.

I am not sure how much I can contribute, but I wanted to respond to another
post and though it would be a bit rude without first introducing myself.

Hi Jennifer,

Welcome to the group.   It is nice to meet you, but sad to hear of another
person who has this illness.   We have had Ida here with us for three years
plus a few months.   She was diagnosed about 4 years ago, when we knew
something wasn't quite right.   There are some wonderful people here and all
are truly helpful.   This newsgroup has been a great resource for us too.
