Dear Friends,

We are still waiting for the pharmacy to call & say the namenda is in.
I plan on talking to the pharmacist tomorrow to make sure it's been
requested & that somebody didn't hit the wrong computer key.

For some reason, John has decided to start getting out of the house
more. We have started going out with a couple more often as they have
moved closer to our area.  Now he has someone to play pool with other
than league night.  This couple also understands what is happening &
accepts the good hours, bad hours.   I think this has helped him a
lot.  He knows if we're out with them & he starts having problems,
they can handle it & not panic like some do.

It will be an interesting  couple of weeks coming up as we are having
some work done to the house---Hope the downpour we're getting right
now doesn't hang around long!  Tuesday   they are supposed to take out
the old cement patio so that it can be replaced & expanded---I know he
can't handle the jackhammer right outside----I can't handle it!  We
will decide Tuesday afternoon where to go.  Can't be far as the car
agitates him so.  There will also be a lot of noise with new roof  &
Vinyl siding going on.  I told him he may have to wear his ear phones
a lot!!!

It's kind of scary because for right now he seems to be doing better
in some ways.   We have even been to Denny's last week & the Waffle
House tonight!    Maybe by the time we're ready to celebrate our
anniversary in June, he'll be ready for an Outback or something
similar.   A lot of it might be he sees I'm less stressed out now that
the CO property & boat have both sold & all of the faxes & paperwork I
was doing are finished.

There was a lot of sad news when I caught up this time.  I am so glad
we all have each other.  I hesitate to ask, but has anyone heard from
Frederick lately?

Always,

Char

The last he wrote, he mentioned he was moving on with his life.  He still
visits and cares for June a great deal, and has people checking on her when
he can't.   He sounds as though he has regained his vitality and attitude
after his long experience with caregiving.   I can surely appreciate what he
was feeling, since I know how it can burn you out over time.  Today is the
day we are bringing Ida to the nursing home, and although I am dreading the
process in one way, in another it feels like freedom (finally!)

Char, correct me if I'm wrong. Don't you and John have access to military?
If you do, you can get Namenda from the DoD pharmacy. You know, the mail
order one. All they need is the script.

Hi Mary,

Yes, we get all of our care at Keesler----they didn't offer to have us
use the mail order----their pharmacist orders it & we pick it up
there.  The pharmacist was on leave for a week so paperwork has built
up.  Anyway, that's what I was told when I called.  I can be very
pushy so will be checking on that Monday!!

Always,

Char
