I just want to let those of you who remember Catharine: she died at 10:00 PM
last night, Hawai'i time. Her sister was with her. Her mom, I believe, is in
Texas now.

Thank you for telling us.
Now she is at peace...

Mary, thanks for letting us know.  She surely had a hard time taking care
of herself and looking after her mom for a good while.  Glad she is at
peace.

Dear Mary,

Thanks so much for letting us know.

I was thinking of her and wondering how she was doing.   She had it so rough
it really touched my heart.   May she have peace, finally.

And it is so sadly ironic that her mother has outlived her, but good that
her sister came through to be with her.   Catherine really sacrificed in
caring for her mother so long in order to spare her siblings the stress.

There are a few people who have come here over the last couple of years that
I think of fondly from time to time, and wonder how they are.   Catherine
was one of them.   She will be in my prayers tonight.

Awwwww......I hate to hear this!  Catharine was such a sweetheart.  She posted
on the cancer ng at the same time my friend Stacey was so sick.  I've thought
of Catharine several times....she will be missed.  I am, however, glad to hear
that her suffering is over.  Thanks, Mary K, for letting us know.

Best,
Trish

What was Catherine's story?

Darryl, This is the best I can remember it;

Catherine lived in Hawaii as did her mother.   She was caring for her mother
with Alzheimers, while she herself was suffering from metastasized cancer.
While undergoing chemo and all its attendant miseries, she was trying to
manage caring for her mother in this apartment complex.   Her mom was
delusional and rather active if I recall and was quite a handful for a sick
person to try and manage.

They had relatives in the mainland, but Catherine was very reluctant to put
the responsibility for her mother onto any of them, saying they had their
own lives and kids and responsibilities and so she was determined to bear
that burden herself as long as humanly possible.   Ultimately her mother had
to go to one of them.   I hope Catherine's last days were peaceful, because
she was very sick from cancer and the chemo while trying to care for her
mother and herself at the same time.   I think her story touched many of us
here.

If you go to this URL and click on alt.support.cancer.breast. Then click
on alt.support.cancer.breast members bio pages. Then look for Catharine
Honeyman or Hula Blooz. It's her history in her own words, plus the obit and
the journal her sister kept of the final hours. She was quite a wonderful
woman.

Dear Mary,

I was just thinking about Catherine about a week ago.  Reading her bio
was so moving.  I hadn't pictured her so young.  She was strong beyond
belief in so many ways.   Thanks for letting us know the sad news but
at least she isn't suffering now.  John has always wondered about the
saying that a death has a purpose.  Maybe hers was to bring her family
together again.

Always,

Char

I'll say.  I was especially amazed by her sense of humour.

Me, too.

That wasn't quite the woman we got to know, which says a lot for how much
stress she was under in taking care of her Mom.

So glad the struggle is over. From the sister's notes of Catharine's last
days, it was great to see she wasn't alone, and also that the siblings had
really stepped up to care for everyone in the family that needed care. That
was one of Catharine's concerns (expressed to us). It was nice to see how
they really rallied together.
