Prayer list

I would like to create a prayer list here.  All of us who are caring for
someone with dementia or who has a loved one suffering from dementia knows
how hard it is.  The patient needs our prayers too.  Some have asked for
prayers on this NG but all of us need prayers.

If you want to be placed on the prayer list please just reply and place your
first name or nickname on the bottom of the list.  We can all pray for
everyone on the list and receive the benefits of group prayer.  I will place
my name here now.

Greg, I know that some people here don't believe in prayer, but I do.  My
husband died 3 years ago so I am no longer a caregiver, and don't need
prayer for this particular thing.
You may get some objections.

It is OK if some object.  They can simply ignore the thread, or respond if
they wish.  But, I extend to them my best wishes and lift them up anyway.  I
really don't want to judge people because it is impossible to know what
people have experienced that may cause bitterness or negativity, and the way
people were raised plays a big part too.  Just about everyone is hurting
about something.  That is just the way life is.

Yes, I think it is a good thing.  If someone does not want to participate
they can simply ignore the post.  But I will extend good thoughts to them
anyway.  All of us whose life has seen touched by a loved one suffering from
any kind of disease has carried a heavy burden.  We all need lifting up and
positive support even if it is just good thoughts.

please don't.  this is NOT a religious list.

although i don't object to religion, and i have frequently
included folks from this group and their LOs in my own prayers, i
think this is a bad precedent.

if you want to start a prayer list, please go to google groups
and start a mailing list.  you can then post the information
about the mailing list here once a month or so, and i'm sure
folks won't object.

but i do object to cluttering up this newsgroup with prayer list
junk.

Thank you for your thoughts.  The post you replied to is all there will be.
And please if you would remember me and my Mother in your prayers.  We
really need them.

Im 100% athiest, without a doubt, cant see the help in praying for someone,
but cant say it would hurt. Im not worth praying for, many people worse off
healthwise or wealth than me.

Dear Greg,

This isn't a religious list, but it is a support list.   I have often told
people they were in my prayers here, and they were included in my prayers.

I have no objection if it is well noted as prayer related and labeled "Off
Topic" in the header, so that those who find it offensive can skip it.

Nobody wants to be assailed by lots of data on other people's religious
beliefs, so if it starts to sound the slightest bit like proselytizing or
gets too obtrusive, you are going to hear complaints.... maybe even from me.

In other words in my opinion you can put together your list, post it
discreetly with the header saying "OT - Prayer list" when appropriate, but
more than that is going to be pushing the boundaries a bit.

I would gladly place the OT in the subject line.  I do not plan to start a
new subject though and I have no idea how to go back and do it.  Thanks for
you suggestion.

I sent my other reply before I meant to.  Sorry.  I have absolutely no
intention of preaching or proselytizing or discussing religious views.
