Do you walk every year for Alzheimer's?
We have a group from work that go every year. There are several starting
areas and we have different colored tee shirts to distinguish where we
are walking from.

As Activity Coordinator for our unit, I started my whole unit wearing
Purple and White (Alzheimers Colors) every Wednesday. And in November
(Alzheimers Month)....I have a big hot Buffet Dinner for my Residents
and Family Members to enjoy, with Entertainment. My whole staff wears
Purple and White for the week to give them our respect.
One year for this event (I do this about every five years) on large
pieces of poster boards, we decorate each one, and ask the Family
Members to bring in pictures of them from the time they were
babies....and on through the years. Under each picture we tell a little
about him/her.
What they did for a living, children, hobbies etc. We took everything
off the walls and put these posters up so that everyone could start from
this huge room and walk right around to read them. Believe me....there
was not a dry eye in the house!

I also have a huge Christmas Party with Entertainment, Santa Clause
(everyone gets a nice gift) buffet of all desserts...
Families love this, and it gives them a chance to be with
Mom/Dad......Patty

Hi
I walk when I can, and can raise the money as well.  I also volunteer, when
I can, not only for Alzheimers, but for other events.
