I am very concerned about getting Alzheimers. My grandmother (I
suspect) had it, my dad was diagnosed with it in his early 70's, my 51
yr old sister cant find her way home from the store. When I visited
her, she was 7 hours (!!!) 7 hours! late picking me up from the
airport, because 'she got lost' ...
and me; well, I have my concerns. Im hoping my memory lapse(s) is just
from having too much on my plate.
I was talking with one of the staff at the nursing home today and she
told told me the latest test to determine if you had early AD, was the
PET Scan. Did a search and this is what I came up with:

Does anyone have any info about the latest tests to ask for to detect
early Alzheimers??
Hi Lisa,
Pretty late answering here. Pet scans can help determine AD but
it isn't the be all end all in determining AD. There are lots of
tests to eliminate other causes before a Pet would be considered.
They usually aren't covered by insurance either. They help but
the
technology to actually diagnose AD from a PET is very new.
