Federal Prescription Drug Benefit

I have no idea where to start. My mother, who is diagnosed with
Alzheimers, signed up for the federal prescription drug benefit (at
their most comprehensive level) in 05, after the bill was passed.

In taking her to the pharmacy, I realized we were being charged the
full amount. Of course, she can;t find her cards for anything -- and I
have no proof of her every being signed up on this thing (aren't the
premiums deducted from SS benefits automatically?)

I need to get the "card" or whatever the proof is required by the
pharmacies that she has this benefit. I have NO idea what it;s
officially called or where to even begin calling about this thing.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction to resolve this.
Thanks, R. Vince

Have you or your mother talked with her doctor about this dilemma?

I entered "Alzheimer's federal prescription drug benefit" (without quotes)
into Google and got many references.  Perhaps one (or more) of them would
help your mother.

I'm sorry I can't help any more.

Hi Vince....I'm afraid that I don't have good news.   I signed my mother up
the first year and I've paid the monthly premiums for her ever since.   If
your mother hasn't kept up the premiums then it probably doesn't exist.  My
advice is get her signed up again as soon as possible.  AARP has a good
plan.  That's what I signed Mom up for......June
