Where are all these trolls coming from?  I probably shouldn't have even
acknowledged their presence.

Don't feed the trolls!

In this instance they're not "trolls" (please look up the definition of
trolls - try Wikipedia) but computer generated spam (again ... Wikipedia),
who care not whether you 'acknowledge their presence' or not. And as for
where this spam originates ... does it matter? And if it does, why can't you
find out for yourself by studying the headers?

But interesting that you should instruct others to do something which you're
evidently incapable of doing yourself.

Julian is a longtime poster here.   He has a legitimate reason to complain
about these off topic problem posts, whether they are spam or trolls is
irrelevant, they annoy a lot of people.

Hi Evelyn

Firstly, his name isn't Julian. Secondly, it's irrelevant whether he's a
"longtime poster here", or whether it's his first posting. I'm sure you
don't mean to imply that being a "longtime poster" confers some sort of
superiority? Thirdly, who are you to determine who has a "legitimate reason"
to do or say things? Fourthly, it's hardly rocket science to work out that
spam annoys "a lot of people". I'd hazard an educated guess that it annoys
just about everyone who is on the receiving end of it, whether it be email
inboxes or newsgroups. It's pretty much a given. Therefore, people don't
generally take up yet more bandwidth by complaining about it.

Finally, I'm sure Ken doesn't need you to jump in to justify his actions :)

Blessings!

His name really is Julian, even though he posts as Ken Bland.   I am a
friend of his for many years now.   And thanks for your Blessings, but I
think your civility might be more welcome.

Evelyn or Dennis Harris called me a "troll" since day one.  Evelyn, what
do you mean by "off topic"? . My posts primarily focused on the
similarities of Ramsay-Hunt Syndrome discovered in 1907 and Alzheimer's
Disease. Apparently, Evelyn, and her followers, don't want you to read
about the late Dr. James R. Hunt's "masterful" work, and in all
liklihood, could have prevented much suffering and premature deaths had
his work not been covered up. The early Twentileth Century physicians
who had no sophisticated medical equipment at their disposal knew more
about diseases than doctors do today --- and can you imagine, everything
they needed to diagnose a patient was contained inside a little black
bag!

First, I feel silly by allowing myself to be drawn into a discussion that
shouldn't have happened.  But...
Second, Some acknowledgment, thanks, and corrections ought to be made.
Somewhat in order of other comments:

Yes, I "used up" some bandwidth.  Not counting headers, common to all
messages, my text ran to 131 letters, 19 words;  BW, your first text ran to
459 letters, 75 words, and your second message, 748 letters, 127 words.
Please don't criticize me for message length.

I know the common and dictionary definitions of a troll.  Would it have
pleased you more had I said "spammer"?  I didn't need to check headers for
these particular messages; the Subject name and From address seemed
sufficiently suspicious for me.

Evelyn, my real birth certificate name is Ken[neth] Bland.  My moniker,
alias, nom de plume, pseudonym is Justin Hale because it's kinda catchy and
sounds like "just inhale."  Unless I inadvertently forget, I always affix my
name to the bottom of my posts.  My interest in this newsgroup is
three-fold:  My dad had, I suppose, Alzheimer's Disease, although it was
many years ago and the diagnosis then was senile dementia.  He choked to
death in a veterans' hospital when left unattended for a short while with a
breakfast tray in front of him and he simply stuffed his month too full to
swallow.  I am understandably (I think) concerned for myself (I'll be 80 on
my next birthday and I have difficulty remembering things right now).  And
finally, I have a very good long-time friend dying in a total care facility
with seventh-stage Alzheimer's, totally unable to do anything for himself.
He does not remember his wife, his children, and local friends.  We live
more than a thousand miles apart or I would surely pay him an occasional
visit.

My final snide comment to you, BW (yes I can be nasty if provoked), is in
response to your final note to Evelyn:  "Finally, I'm sure Ken doesn't need
you to jump in to justify his actions," nor do I need your unprovoked
criticism.  (It's hard being perfect, isn't it?)

Please accept my apologies, my thanks, and forgive me for disturbing all
those pesky electrons.  This is my last word and I would prefer that this
particular thread be terminated here and now.

My apologies.
I mistook you for another poster.
No more to say about it.
Have a great day anyway!
