Thought I'd post a follow up on scabies.

My Dad, me and dad's three sitters have itched for weeks without a
definitive answer. I went to a quack dermatologist who never listened to my
story of 5 people being infected/infested. I got a diagnosis of Yeast
Folliculitis. So far as I've been able to determine folliculitis isn't
contagious. Finally one sitter went to her regular dermatologist and got an
immediate answer: Scabies. The doc took skin scrapings and examined them
microscopically; even let the sitter got to look at the mite eggs under the
microscope. As to my dermatologist's diagnosis of folliculitis, the sitter's
doctor said "Bull sh.t." So it definitely APPEARS to be scabies.

Within a few hours after hearing of the sitter's diagnosis everyone had the
proper medication, permethrin lotion, all took "the cure" Monday night and
stayed home Tuesday to clean house. Most of us are still itching like mad,
especially at night and expecially Dad. I've read that this is normal and
that the itching will subside over time but right now it isn't encouraging.
We repeat the treatment in 7 days.

I have no idea where the mites came from. Possibly from the hospital or from
a home health worker.

Yikes!  That is really scary.  Makes you want to be a loner, huh.  Hope the
itching will stop very, very soon.

Hi David, I am so glad you got a definitive diagnosis, and pray it
finally brings you all some relief.
