I'm an oldtimer for this group, but I've been on a three-year hiatus.
(Long boring painful story as to why -- another day.)

My dad and I agreed yesterday it's time for my mom (70 with vascular
dementia and many other health problems) to move into a memory care
unit. I've had her on the waiting list only about a month and a slot
came open the day after her doctor adjusted her meds so that she could
be admitted. (In our state, certain diabetic therapies are not allowed
in assisted living, so we had to get that sorted out.)

Monday I will go fix up her room, and Tuesday she moves in. It's going
to be a rough week, but I know it's the best for both Mom and Dad.
It's also nice to know I can come here and vent if I need to!

Nice to see you again, Songbird.  Sorry things weren't good for the three
years you were gone.

Congratulations on getting your mom admitted so quickly.  I agree it will be
better for your mom and dad, and for you.  Keep us posted.  Okay?

Gwen

A sad but necessary step in this stuff. My condolences on the necessity of
the move but you are doing the right thing. Hope your Mom adapts to the
changing scenery and comes to like her new place.
