My Dad has LBD.  If you don't know of it, the symptoms are very
similar to Alzheimers, and is very often mis diagnosed, either way.
I'm struggling to care for my Dad, and work full time.  Fortunately my
employer sent me home with a computer, so I can work and take care of
Daddy.  In an effort to keep my sanity, I started a website that is
our daily journey through this disease.  When we first got the
diagnosis, I needed to know what we were facing.  There was clinical
information, but not a whole lot about what it would really be like.

My husband and I are learning to laugh at some of the things my Dad
does.  Its really the only way I can cope sometimes.  Anyway, we write
this diary, and if you think it would help you as a caregiver, or
perhaps you've been diagnosed and are wondering....we pretty much tell
it like it is.

one of the things about lewy body and other frontal lobe
dementias is that tranquilizers that can help with delusions and
auditory & visual hallucinations in AD patients not only don't
work, but can make symptoms worse.

best of luck in coping.  been there, done that (with a mother
with vascular dementia).

a suggestion:  if you haven't already, go buy a copy of "the 36
hour day" by mace & rabin.  you will find a lot of useful info
there.

welcome to the club none of us wanted to join.  feel free to come
here when you need to do so.

Thanks Dennis.

I will look for the book.  You are so right about the meds.  Our
Nuerologist cut daddy loose a year ago, and said there was nothing
more to do.  They did all the drugs, ran all the tests...

Now we wait.

sjm, you're smart to look for the funny side of the situation.  one day when
we were expecting company, grayson was taking a shower.  he asked if he
could help do anything and i told him just to wipe down the shower.  he
stayed so long i went back and he had the blue toilet bowl cleaner all over
the walls and floor in the shower and on himself.  i had to laugh, after i
got it cleaned up.

Now that would make a good Living with Lewy story.
