While there's no cure in sight (except guesswork) from the experts on
Lou Gehrig's Disease, Chronic Fatigue, Parkinsons, AD, MS ALS, Lupus and
a host of others, they now want to clone monkeys, animal/human varieties
and humans! Has this world gone mad?

For once we agree, it must have, as so many people seem to think that by
preventing scientific research upon clumps of 100 to 1000 or so cells
with no no capacity for thought or sensation, (that might lead to a cure
for such diseases), they are somehow being ethical. Crazy.

Only one point we agree on Mr. Tumbleweed? Since your little groupy has
been unable to provide me, and the viewers, with scientific evidence
that Alzheimers is NOT caused by a viral infection, or provide me with
the names of the "smart experts" studying AD, fess up. We agree on two:
Alzheimer's Disease IS caused by a viral infection.

You of all people want to know what is happening in this world.I
would much sooner think that maybe caffine could help than staying
away from my friends on paxil.ROFLMAO,Barb

There is indeed some recent evidence that the Herpes Simplex Virus,
(HSV) the cause of the common cold, may play a role in AD. See:
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/01/070103110103.htm
However it appears from the above article that very little is known
about this other than that mice with the ApoE-4 gene, which is
more often associated with AD than other versions of the ApoE
gene, have more frequent HSV outbreaks.
There's no doubt that AD is a very, very, very complex disease.
There are genetic factors, aging factors, possible viral factors,
and very likely other unknown factors that appear to play roles.
I think it would be a mistake to say at this stage of our knowledge
that AD IS caused by a viral infection. It's probably a mistake to
say there is one cause. And it's always a mistake to say that
because we don't have scientific evidence that AD is NOT caused
by a viral infection that it must therefore be so caused.
We also have no evidence, I think, that AD is NOT caused by
cosmic rays, gravitational perturbations, cell phones, mosquito
bites, or eating bananas.

Also, it is well known that viruses are not affected by antibiotics..... but
I doubt that Eddyjean will allow herself to be confused by such facts.
