I used the positive approach today with mom I told her she had to go to
a new place until she learns to walk again, that they were going to give
her more therapy  so that she can go home again. also that they gave me
a job there so I can visit while I work which in a way is true, I
volunteer to help out during the week for spa day and Ice cream socials.
I attended the support group there and many of sons's  daughters or
spouses come in to help out. the activities director was pleased and
said it helps them as well as the loved ones needs to see familiar
faces. also they are arranging for me to take my dog in for pet day
--mom thinks it is her dog anyway. Mom didn't fuss everything was okay
today she asked me where I was going I told home but will be back later.
which is tomorrow !!!!! I plan to go see her everyday until she settles
in -----then I will taper off little by little until I get to 3 or 4
days a week.
Have to wait and see how it goes ----
thanks for all the help it is helping me cope better but I am lost
without her here, but relieved that she will be safe and taken care of.

Good.  And congratulations, to both you and her - to you for choosing
the right approach and to her for agreeing to it.

Blessed be,

Hi JJ,

I'm so glad it is working out OK for you.   I hope you are taking good care
of yourself, getting some rest and doing what you need to reclaim your life.
I'm also glad that she didn't fuss about it.   I know that in my mother in
law's case, she seemed to sort of like the activity and busy-ness of the
nursing home, rather than sitting around the house every day.
