Back from Vacation

Hi all, got back from vacation but not after cancelled and delayed flights.
I got back a day later then scheduled.   My brother took care of two of my
grandkids. Ages 6 and 11  because my daughter had a training class and I was
supposed to baby-sit.   He did pretty good but the 6 year old has an
infected sore on his knee.   He had scraped it on a table at his uncle's
house and probably only got a band-aid  not peroxide.  I went over to check
on Mom and get her laundry.  He had already gotten the laundry and as taking
care of it.  I called and told him I was back and he said things were
keeping him busy.  I told him welcome to my world.   He just laughed.  I
wish he could see the bigger picture but he's does try.   Mom's doing better
with incontinence.   I think she needs to stay in familiar surrounding.
Hopefully brother will take note, I have told him many times not to take
where she would have to use public restrooms.   We'll see.
OT--Our vacation was to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons.   I hadn't been
there since 1959 and things have changed.  Old Faithful is now 92 minutes
between eruptions; in '59  it was less than an hour.  There were tremendous
earthquakes in the Park in '59 but it was after we left.  Each time there
are severe earthquakes it affects the geysors.   Hardly saw any bears last
week and in '59 they were everywhere.   There were lots of buffalo now and
don't remember seeing them in '59.  Bald eagles were prevalent too.   Mom
was born in Montana and her family is from the Northwest.   I remember my
uncle driving a stagecoach in Yellowstone Park and we took a ride.   He
stopped and threw dirt clods at a bear in our path.  There are no more
stagecoaches now and the bears are no longer being allowed to eat human
scraps from the restaurants in the area so they don't come around humans
like they used to.  Even with the airport problems it was a very nice
vacation.   I really enjoyed the raft trip down the Snake river.   It's back
to reality now.
One more thing, back in '59 my mother brought a colorful ceramic trivet from
a gift shop.   My Dad scoffed and said I give that thing two weeks before
it's broken.   I have it hanging on the wall in my kitchen today. My brother
had taken it to Mom's assisted living apartment and I decided I should take
it home.  It only has a small chip.  Every time I see it, I think of that
trip way back when I was 11 years old........June

We saw two black bears in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia
a couple of weeks ago.  They haven't all disappeared.

I know exactly how you feel.

I've always been a sentimental fellow.  My wife was about to
toss a dress she had bought over 40 years ago (it still fits(!)
but is way out of style.)  I couldn't bear it.

I recently misplaced an old keychain penknife that my
Dad carried in his pocket for years before giving it to me
to carry for decades more.  I have better ones, but I
sure wish I could find that old one again.
