Until recently I believe I had good memory. I could recall a
staggering number of things. Recently though I've been having problems
with recall, especially of names of people and recently sometimes
concepts and other types of names. I haven't been doing as well with
trivia related stuff as well. Typically its a tip of the tongue like
thing where I know about it but just can't recall the name or maybe an
incorrect name. I dunno if this is just a symptom of excessive worry
or whatever but it seems to be or at least I'm imagining it to be
increasing. I dunno its been an intermittant problem in the past but
this is the longest I've felt like this...

Get checked right away. There are medications, such as statin drugs, that
cause memory issues as a side effect as well as other medical problems that
are reversible if caught right away. They can be as simple as a thyroid
problem, believe it or not. But get checked as soon as you can, to find
out what is causing it.

This is from an article on familydoctor.org:
"A memory problem is serious when it affects your daily living. If you
sometimes forget names, you're probably okay. But you may have a more
serious problem if you have trouble remembering how to do things you've
done many times before, getting to a place you've been to often, or
doing things that use steps, like following a recipe."
I think that says it all. If you can't remember how to brush your
teeth, get home from work, or open a can of soup, you've got a serious
problem. If you just forget the occasional name or bit of trivia, it's
probably just a normal part of getting older. Worry and stress do have
a big impact on memory. When you can't remember something, don't get
upset about it. Many times, if you just relax and think about something
else, the name or item you were searching for will just pop into your
head.

how old are you? early onset AD can occur as early as the mid
40s or early 50s, but more likely causes of memory problems
include:
statin drugs to lower cholesterol;
prescription drug interactions;
thyroid problems;
chronic depression;
some psychiatric drugs;
vitamin deficiencies;
post-traumatric stress disorder;
job or family stress.
if you are having really serious problems, ask your primary care
physician to refer you to a neuropsychiatric specialist, who
should do some basic psych and memory tests to determine any
deficiencies, and if indicated, various medical tests, including
scans, to determine the reason for any memory impairment.
be sure to take a list of all of the prescriptions, otc drugs,
vitamins, supplements, and herbal remedies with you for doctor
visits.
