My server was having problems and after our fourth conversation
they told me that Luckylady was in use by another party. So now I am
"sweetpickle". After spending most of the afternoon working with Knology. I
now have my new account set up, but I no longer have any addresses in my
adress book. A real bummer.
sweetpickle at knology dot net is my address now.

well, it still didn't work gwen. you need to change your MAILING
ADDRESS, not just your nickname. your first post gave your
correct address in the from: field, which means that the spambots
have already picked it up, and sweetpickle will now be getting
spam right away.
since i don't use outlook (i call it outhouse because it's so
subject to viruses, and never ever use it) i can't tell you
exactly where to change the name when you get yet another email
address from your ISP, unless you intended for sweetpickle to be
a throwaway address.
i get around this problem by having my own domain name, and pay
for a web page and email forwarding service. i can forward up to
10 names at my domain to specific email addresses, and all other
addresses are forwarded to my regular email address.
i use specific email addresses at my domain that match whatever
i'm signing up for, so that if the wash post or ny times starts
spamming me, i know exactly where they got my address, and i can
block messages addressed to that address at my domain.
you might want to consider having your own domain. then you can
have a many throwaway addresses as you want. i have registration
and email and web page forwarding from DNS Central
( www.dnscnentral.com ).

=================
Hi Gwen...
Still not there...
Try it one more time...
Open Outlook Express
Go to...Tools / Accounts / News tab
In the Account column...left click
(highlight) the server you use for
newsgroups / Properties button /
General tab
The name you enter in the "Name"
field will show in the from field on the
newsgroup.
The address you enter in the *E-mail
Address* field on the General tab will
be the address that is included in your
message header.
Leave the other fields on the General
tab blank.
Here's the thing...your real e-mail address
does not have to entered in the properties.

In Outlook Express 6.
Click on *tools* at the top.
Down to *accounts* and click.
In the box that opens, click on *news* tab at the top.
Now click on the *properties* tab at the right.
Leave the top box alone (this needs to be the server you get your groups
from
for real!
Where it says Name: type in whatever you want people to see as your name.
(John
Purchase). Whatever you decide for that one, most people keep it consistent
"name recognition", so that their circumstance is remembered
You will also see where it says Email - type here whatever you want people
to
see as your address. put whatever you want before the @
what goes after the @ should not be your nor a valid email address/website
Some use privacy.net which is set up specifically (apparently) for that
purpose
Some use anon.anon or invalid.inv or anon.inv (or some combination like
that.
Do not change the tab at the top that says server!! This is just seen in
your
computer to get the newsgroups to pull in!
Click *apply* at the bottom and then "ok" to close the box.
Go ahead and close out all boxes that are still open.
As long as you clicked the "apply" button before "ok" your changes are held!
