Hi All,

I've lurked in this NG for years because my Mum has AZ.

I notice that the NG is being plagued with cross-posted spam, far more than
other NGs that I visit.

This might be because some people have replied to the crossposters.

Doing that creates more spam; it feeds it.

Be patient and ignore it and it will go away. It can take weeks to go away
but whatever you do don't feed it by replying, Even just one reply restarts
it..

Hi Barrie,

When we reply to messages there are options regarding where the reply
actually goes. For crossposting spammers we can reply directly to them
and not spam any list at all. If you wish to be polite about it you can
edit the tail to the apropos comments - else send them the entire
contents of their spam along with a reasonable question as to how their
post relates to the list.

You miss my point. However you reply, their bot notes it and propagates
more. However, of course I can only advise. Do as you wish thereafter.

Your instinct to be polite is admirable but rarely does any human eye see
it.

Incidentally I notice that your email address is in plain view. That also is
very unwise but maybe if you're using a web-based service, there's no
choice.

Hi Barrie,

You are right they can see my address. I replied to them in private and
any bot will only send back to me. I can filter them out and i can
report their tactics which can eventually get their service terminated
- without bothering anybody here on the list. So your advice is
correct. Don't reply to them on the list. However if you are up to the
task you can address them in private without annoying the list.
