Hi...excuse me for not perfect english...My name is Giorgio and i'm 37. My
mother is 79 and she is affected of Moderate Alzheimer... here in Italy
there isn' t valid group like this and i'm very "happy" to read your
experience here... I'd like to send you my experience... my mother for 3
mounths was cured with Donepezil cloridrato (1 a day)and Ticlopidina(2 at
day)but she was intollerant and in the night she had vomito...so i decided
with my father to not somministrate more it for same days... interrupted the
treatment the vomito will end... strat again it but the result is the
same...now she have a pills of Ticlopidina 3 time a week and an integrator
for the retina (for maculopatia degenerativa) 4 times a week... her
conditions is not very serious,she 's auto for hers...
Her sister is dead for Alzheimer...her grandson have Alzheimer...and I ???

Hi Giorgi,
dont worry about your English, its a lot more understandable than my Itlian
would be.
Usually I'd say, dont worry about the family connection either, be aware
that in the West, 1 in 2 people over the age of 85 has Alzheimers, so the
fact some people in your family have it, does not mean you have higher
chance of getting it. However, you have said your mothers grandson has
Alzheimers? How old is he, because if you are 37 I imagine he would only be
20-30? Did you mean grandson?
Also, your mother was not cured (amd maybe that is just your English ), so
far there is no medicine that can cure Alzheimers. There are some medicines,
such as Aricept, that can hide the symnptoms, or lessen them. But the
disease still progresses and eventually they no longer work well enough to
hide this :-(

Giorgia, if Ticlopidina is the same as Ticlid in the US, that is a blood
thinner. My husband was on that after he had a stroke.
Don't know if that would be used for Alzheimers in Italy.
