I thought I'd share a nice recipe here. This is my grandmother's recipe for
German style potato salad. It is always a big favorite, and I had to type
it up for some family members anyway :-) Enjoy.
Grandma's German Potato Salad
7 lbs of Yukon gold potatoes
1 large sweet onion, chopped fine
3 stalks of celery chopped fine
1/4 cup of white vinegar
1 tablespoon of kosher salt
2 tablespoons of white sugar
1/2 tsp of ground black pepper
1/4 tsp of commercial poultry seasoning
1 tsp of dried parsley
1/2 cup of light vegetable oil
Boil potatoes in their skins just till tender.
While the potatoes cook, chop vegetables and place in a large bowl
Mix the vinegar, oil, salt, sugar, pepper and poultry seasoning and parsley
and whisk well till blended.
Pour the dressing over the vegetables and allow to stand, while the potatoes
finish.
When potatoes are tender, set out on a counter to cool till just about room
temperature.
Peel the potatoes and slice into the bowl.
Gently toss (with clean hands) to blend.
This tastes best after standing a while.

Tips...
Do not use a strongly flavored oil (such as XV olive oil) or any strongly
flavored vinegar either. I have experimented with many kinds and this turns
out to be the best combination, or at least the most authentic to my
grandmother's original recipe. Regular white potatoes can be used, but
they don't hold their shape as well, or have as nice a flavor. Also does
not need to be refrigerated right away, due to the use of vinegar and salt
dressing rather than mayonnaise.

Thanks Evelyn, I'm the cook in our family. Lot's of cooking experience but
little practical training as far as recipes go. This sounds do-able for me
and also sounds delicious, so I'm going to give it a try. AW

I think you are a spammer and a snake oil salesman.
