If all of your loved ones with Alzhiemers have Diabetes also....There is
so much going around that it actually goes together....I have both...but
really think the glucophage or mediforim for the diabetes is helping my
alzhiemers..I ask my Dr for the Avandia and was reading on it... it is
practically the same as mediforim...If I take the avandia I don't need
the mediforim for my diabetes,.. woops forgot to take my pills...gotta
go....

None of the Alzheimer patients I know personally (two in my immediate
family, about a dozen beyond that) have diabetes.

Beth, Easter says she has been diagnosed with alzheimers.   Considering that
she keeps posting this exact same claim over and over, without any regard
for any of the replies, lends some credence to this claim.   As most of us
know in regard to our loved ones with the illness, they don't always hear us
or remember what we say.

A little late response but Avandia implements the insulin activity from
the pancreas while Metformin blocks production in the liver so they're
not quite the same. In fact, the company that makes Avandia also markets
a combination of Avandia and Metformin called Avandamet.
