Pfizer Sued Over Lipitor Again
BrandWeek Mon, 17 Jul 2006 2:04 PM PDT
NEW YORK -- Plaintiffs' lawyers are turning up the heat on Pfizer over its
Lipitor brand.

Excerpt:
"The suits claim Pfizer received two letters from the Food and Drug
Administration since 2001 warning the company that its marketing did not
adequately address health risks. The suits quote Pfizer's marketing
materials for Lipitor as saying, "In fact, in some clinical studies, Lipitor
has been proven to be as safe as taking a sugar pill."

The suits also claim that some doctors see side effects in 20% of patients.

"These lawsuits charge that Pfizer failed to adequately warn both doctors
and consumers of the drug's more serious and sometimes permanent health
risks-risks that Pfizer was well aware of in its own clinical studies," said
Mark Jay Krum, the lead lawyer in the cases.

You recently stated:

"A recently published medical journal article showed 100% of statin
patients have muscle damage identifiable on muscle biopsy after only a
few
months.

Another recently published study showed all statin patients have
measurable
cognitive impacts after 6 months.

Another recently published study showed neuropathy 26 times more likely
in
statin patients."

Could you please supply links for these three statements?

Thank you.
