Cute cute cute.  Creatures, such happy loving blessed ones, what great
companions they are, especially important during rough times.  Remind
us of the love and beauty in life.

Yes definitely!   When I got the older one, Asta, everyone thought I was
nuts for getting a puppy while caring for my mother in law when she had
alzheimers.   We needed the life-affirming experience and exuberance of a
puppy though, and it was a good thing for us.   Asta is one of the best dogs
I have ever had.

Be that as it may, I'm just wondering how Nick and Nora felt about it.
Hopefully you've given them visitation rights.

LOL!   But if you recall Nick and Nora's doggie was a schnauzer!

This didn't seem right to me so I finally got around to checking it out.
Sure enough, Asta was a wire-haired terrier.  And of course there's a
major league Asta web site http://www.iloveasta.com/ .  I wonder if
there's a notable thing - animate or inaminate - that doesn't have it
least one web site devoted to it.  Probably a heck of a lot of not
notable things as well.  Somehow, I get the feeling this internet thing
is going to catch on.

Hi John,

I got a chuckle out of that website, and yes of course I had forgotten the
original Asta was a wire haired terrier.   I was close but no cigar..... :-)
At any rate, my German Shepherd Dog Asta is a gorgeous 6 year old girl dog,
who has the sweetest temperament you have ever seen.    She was born in an
"A" litter, and so she got an "A" name.   Many breeders tend to do that.
They will name each litter using consecutive letters of the alphabet.  Makes
it easier for them to remember which was which.  :-)

The shepherds are gorgeous!  We had a couple many years ago and would dearly
love to have another.  My concern is that I don't have enough time/energy to
train and give a dog the attention it deserves AND the cats voted no  :-)

Larry is in daycare 3 days a week so I do have some time for myself.  For
the other 150+ hours in the week he is very needy and demanding of my time.
So haven't been posting much but I do keep up with the posts.  I've seen
considerable decline recently and look forward to his next round of doctors'
appointments in a couple of weeks.

Thank goodness for daycare!   It was our only sanity during that time when
Ida lived with us.   Hope all goes well with you and Larry.   :-)

Evelyn,
Thank you for sharing those.  Your dogs are beautiful.  We lost Wolfie,
our GS,  just over a year ago and I really want another.  Right now we
have 2 Catahoula puppies though that are good at keeping me company.
