Hello
I have read all your nice messages, so kind.
I saw my granddad both visiting times yesterday, and the ward sister let me
see him outside that for 5 minutes too.
He has had half his hip replaced, and each time i went he recognised me and
last night he had managed to eat. He is not how i have always known him, he
looks so weak and fragile.
I found out how the accident happend. He fell down the 3 rear steps outside
his house, he was waiting Tue Morning for the Az club ambulance to collect
him as they were alll going on a day trip to the seaside, so it was them who
found him. I only got a call late Wed.
Yesterday he kept asking how the dog was, Arthur, thats all he cared about,
he said he wasnt in any pain and was ok, but i noticed his eyes were rolling
and he would suddenly hold out his hands like trying to grab something that
was infront of him, even though there wasnt.
I had been visiting him at home most days now i have a car again, i had no
concerns at all about him living alone, he was cooking, cleaning and walked
off to the shops and for a hair cut, he said he was fine. Each time i would
take the dog for a walk in the park near his house i would call in.
While at the hospital yesterday i was holding his hand, and he tried to
squeeze mine, he had always been as strong as a ox and since i was a kid i
would always try to to outsqueeze him but i couldnt, yesterday would have
been the first time i could and he smiled. He knew i was there but couldnt
really talk, and would fall asleep suddenly. I dont he really knew where he
was, but he knew how he fell.
Here are some old pics on my website i have had up for a while.
I am hoping he is stronger in a few days, enough so i can wheel him to the
exit doors of the hospital and let him spend time with the dog. He kepts
asking how my dog was and my other animals.
Again thankyou for your messages, its hard for me to pop in here all the
time, i guess its a place where really no one wants to be. I was raised by
my grandparents so hes like my father, all i have in the world is him and my
dog Arthur (who i named after my granddad)
thankyou all again

So glad he is doing well after surgery. We have all been hoping for such a
good result. That he knows you and can speak is really good.
Don't worry about not posting often. You are entitled to live your life and
enjoy. It's wonderful that you have been able to visit your Granddad so
often. The pictures show just how wonderful your Grandparents have been.
Giving back to him a bit is his legacy and yours.
Wishing you both all good things!

Jules, I hope he does well with his recovery. Probably the pain meds
will keep him fading in and out like that for sometime (the dropping
off to sleep you mentioned). Just as you were lucky to have him
raising you, he's lucky to have you with him now. Keep us posted. I'm
off work for the summer and able to drop in more often than during the
school year so I'll keep checking on his progress here.

Jules, so glad your granddad is doing well and talked to you. Pray he will
really do well with healing and being able to get around again.
Loved the pictures. Your Gran and Granddad (were) are very special people
and I know he loves you dearly.
Who kept Arthur for you while you were in Germany, or when you go out of
town for a few days? He is beautiful. I have a 5 year old teacup poodle
that I love so much, so I know how you feel about Arthur.
Just keep us posted when you can.

Hi Gwen.
I saw him earlier and he looked better, or as well as i can hope for.
I had a friend look after my house when i was away, but i got burgled (but
the dog scared him off) and he looked after my animals, and his mate..I as
due to go again in a couple of weeks but now delayed that. I am due to
drive to Germany mid Sept, but have to see how things are now, i was hoping
to take my dog but i couldnt get the 6 month vacinations done in time, but
maybe in the future
I wouldnt be without my dog, he doesnt care what i have or dont have, i just
know hes likes me for what i am. Had him about 9 years now and guess we are
growing old together.....
