Oliver Riedel - 14 Jun 2006 17:51 GMT Hello out there,
my name is Oliver and I joined this newsgroup a few days ago. I should mention that I don't have personal contact with DAT (my grandma, who passed away a few months ago, suffered from vascular disease). But I am interested in the topic, because I work in a research group, investigating Parkinson's Disease associated with dementia.
cu all, Oliver

Tumbleweed is direct, not sarcastic. Sometimes such directness is appreciated and sometimes it is misunderstood. I am one of those who prefers directness.

Tumbleweed is truly one of the good guys, I promise you. He's actually one of our best, in many ways. (I'm not saying you have to like how he does that.)
I *think* I understand why you feel the way you do, too. After all, I grew up with the same choirbook you did, and we are very close in age and life/world experience.
As is said here, over and over, one size doesn't fit all.
This is not an attack on you, Barb. Hope you know that. I hope Tumbleweed will forgive me for translation without representation: I believe he's trying to expose logical fallacies, and I have to support that action. The more we know that's free of bias, the better. JMO.
Best to you, and yours, Deborah

Deborah - 15 Jun 2006 02:32 GMT > Hello out there, > [quoted text clipped - 6 lines] > cu all, > Oliver Oliver, the internet is positively teeming with people, both patients and carers/caregivers, dealing with atypical Alzheimer's related dementia and parkinsonism. I expect you already knew that, but I will point you to the one I personally know best:

HTH.
Nevertheless, try
Oliver Riedel - 15 Jun 2006 07:06 GMT Thank you for the very warm welcome.

>> Hello out there, >> [quoted text clipped - 6 lines] >> cu all, >> Oliver I don't mean to be dismissive or unsympathetic for what you may have gone through with your grandma.
You don't tell us very much, other than that you "work in a research group, investigating Parkinson's Disease associated with dementia."
The "cu" tells me, an old school dinosaur, that you are web-savvy, and that if you'd taken a minute to do a google search, you'd have found enough to occupy your interest for a good, long while.
Now, I apologize if I jumped to an erroneous conclusion. I've been known to do that, on occasion.
This group is mostly composed of caregivers who are, or were, not long ago, actively coping with the often unimaginable and terrific stressors of dementia caregiving. Please excuse any shortness of reply. Some of us have been hoeing this row for 10 or more years.
And, I do sincerely hope the Lewy Body site is helpful to you, in your research. It really is quite good. If you have the fortitude to pursue.
I do wish you great good luck, Oliver, and will be more than willing to append, if you so desire. I would not want to discourage anyone who may ultimately be able to help our LOs.
Crabbier-by-the-day, Deborah (Sorry, all)
