Mom Fell/Broke Hip

Mom fell yesterday evening and broke her right hip. Ambulance got here
pretty quick and got her to the hospital where she was in the emergency
room for around 3 hours. Doctor said she had broke her right hip at the
ball joint. They took her to surgery and put in a new ball joint and I
got to see her for a bit after that. They kept her in ICU last night and
said they would move her to a room this morning,so I have to get in a
minute to go take my sisters place so she can go to work.

Everything seems about as good as it can be in a bad situation like
this. Doc said Mom would be in the hospital for several days and then
would need to go to nursing home/rehab for about a month and then see
how things go as to whether she should/could come home or not?

Please remember Mom in your prayers and good thoughts.

Dear Ronny,

So sorry to hear of your mom's mishap.   Take advantage of the time she is
in rehab to rest up a bit yourself!   You are both in my thoughts and
prayers.

Oh dear, Ronny! I'm glad you were able to get help for her so quickly.
Please take care of yourself and her -- see, I put YOU first since
she's being looked after. Prayers headed your way.

Ronny, sad news to hear.  Do pray your Mom will do real well and heal
quickly.  My MIL broke her hip when she was just shy of 90 and got along
well.  Rehab was hard for her but she made it through.

Ronny,

I will surely add you and your mom to my list of prayers and good
thoughts.

Not all rehabs are created alike. I hope I'm going to be the lone voice of
pessimism in this thread. Weigh what I say against the others.

You may discover that you need to stay glued to your mother's side for a
minimum 16 of the 24 hours, in order to see that her care is managed
appropriately. Dementia patients, in particular, seem to need
extraordinary help from LOs when in rehab.

The month in rehab may be more gruelling for you than anything you've ever
faced before. Then, again, it may not be. I sincerely hope not.

I'm just warning you about what our family faced with rehab. It wasn't the
rehab's fault. The doctor(s) werent' paying sufficient attention.

My mother needed 24/7 care for a large multiple of months. (Years.) It's
my genuine hope that you don't have to face that alone. (Don't even try,
Ronny, if you see this happening with your mother. Get whatever outside
help you can, ASAP. Even if you don't think you need it. If you need help,
you needed it yesterday.)

Best wishes and hopes sent to you and your mother,
Deborah

Any body have any experience with broken bones and EOD? That is, is it unheard
of, infrequent, almost never?

Take it from someone that just finished getting 2 family members through
surgery this past month -- hospitals are no longer a safe place to be left
alone.  I saw nurses asking my Mom about her doc's instructions while she
was still on a morphine pump.  Not surprising that the info they got was
wrong but if I hadn't been there, they wouldn't have known it.  Apparently,
checking the chart just isn't the done thing these days.

A family friend recently finished a stay in rehab for a broken hip with no
problems, if that's an encouragement.  She doesn't have dementia, but is
blind and worse than a 6 year old for not following orders.  But the rehab
guys remembered she was diabetic in spite of her best efforts.  :-)

Of course, but you too.  Your Mom has a team of people taking care of her.
Make sure you take care of you!  This place doesn't have the same flavor
when a dash of Ronnie is missing.

Make sure she's getting 1000u of Vitamin D each day to speed the healing
process.

It took 5 days in the hospital, 3 weeks in rehab and 3 months of split 12 hr
shifts 24/7 to rehab our LO. However she did recover. Now we have trouble
keeping her from climbing on chairs and stopping her constant playing with
the screw head that protrudes slightly along her upper leg.  Good luck.   AW
Ronny TX - 08 Apr 2006 04:52 GMT
Thank you all. :-)

Tried to post early this morning;but couldn't get past the MSN logo
after putting in my password. Glad things are working tonight!

Mom was doing fairly well Wensday morning and got moved from ICU to a
private room. I slept some that day and got back to the hospital about
7pm or so and stayed with Mom until around 1am, when one of my brothers
came. Mom slept from 10 to 4,so that was good. Hurting at times;but they
were good about getting her pain meds to her. (One big problem was
someone had to be with her to keep her from pulling out her IV and
pulling on her catheter tube.)

And good news is there were no cracked/broke bones in her right
shoulder. The doc had wondered about that;but put off doing that x-ray
for a bit.

They got Mom up for a bit today-45 minutes to an hour,so she could walk
just a bit and sit up in a chair. She was talking away some when I got
there this evening.:-)

Considering all,it seems Mom's doing pretty good. Will be in the
hospital a few more days, then rehab for maybe a month.
Now for the not so good and good news on me! LoL It was Wensday night
into Thursday morning that a nurse kept coming in about every 30 minutes
to check Mom's vital signs. So we got to talking and I mentioned being
sick last fall, going to my doctor, him saying my blood pressure was up
and that I needed to come back and have it checked again after I got
well. That I checked it once during the winter and it was still up;but I
just ignored that and didn't go back to my doctor. So Mom's nurse said
she would check my blood pressure too. Checked it in both arms about 1am
or so the other night and told me when my brother got there I needed to
go down to the emergency room and have the doctor there check it too.
She got a reading of 190 over 114.

Got to the emergency room in a bit,all the paperwork done and in a room.
The first reading they got was 190/111. Did a chest x-ray and took
blood. Doc gave me two pills, came back in 30 to 45 minutes, gave me
another pill and told me to rest and try to sleep awhile. Finally got to
head home about 4:30am or so and my BP was 174/111. Then that evening
went and picked up my prescription for Norvasc 5mg. And made an
appointment to see another doc this evening that the emergency room doc
wanted me to see.

Saw her this evening and she said the Norvasc was working;but not
getting my BP down good/fast enough,so she prescribed Benazepril 20mg to
go along with the Norvasc. Then Monday morning I'm to go back to have my
cholesteral checked. Then another checkup about 7 days after that to see
how the meds are doing?

And my next oldest sister has been getting on to me when I go by the
hospital to see Mom and telling me I should get my tail home and be
resting and
relaxing!LoL I have been,as much as possible,between going back for Dr's
appointments and getting to the pharmacy- :-) twice in the last two
days.

And I picked up more fishing gear too while shopping yesterday. :-) Got
my new rod and real last week. A bit more fishing stuff today, plus a
fishing license. :-) Went down to our farm pond and fished about 2 hours
this morning from 8 to 10. Caught a couple of little perch. :-) So
except for this morning, tonight is about the first time this week I've
really got to relax completely and have nothing I have to do. (ha) Just
hope it's not too cool or windy here tomorrow. Strong north winds came
in about an hour before dark. I got some new bait today and wanna go
fishing tomorrow! LoL May have to wait until Sunday though?

Well, that's about all the news for now.

Not posting much of anywhere yet tonight. Just woke up from a
long, several hours nap! :-) Maybe post more later on or sometime
tomorrow? But I hope you're right on this one Dennis because I do love
to fish! LoL Just haven't gotten to do much if any of that in a long
time.

Mom still doing pretty good today. Next oldest sister came by this
morning and said though that she was agitated at times;but slept good
other times. Said yesterday it took 4 people to keep Mom in bed for
awhile as she was determined to get up and go home. That of course, with
out her even knowing where home was,as sister put up;but said she calmed
down later.

The clouds went on today, wind down a good bit and it warmed up to 65°
or so,so I went fishing a bit. Caught 4 small perch.:-) That's
fun, except for the fact I was trying to get over a sinus headache at the
time. (ha) Well,it was better when I went fishing. I think after I took
some aspirin? Had the same problem Friday evening;but the headache
stopped after taking aspirin. Just came back today on the right side of
my face with stopped up sinus's and all. Took more aspirin, used my hand
held hair dryer too. That heat and air massage on my face helped some.
Took a hot shower with a lot of hot water on my tense neck muscles and
that helped too for awhile. Then took the first sinus pill when things
got worse again. Usually take two of those. Did take the 2nd one about
an hour later when things weren't improving. Not really supposed to take
those with this high blood pressure; but had to take something to get
over that sinus headache. Need to find out which sinus meds are safer
for use when a person has high blood pressure?

Did mention I got my fishing license this week. :-) And did know of a
good fishing spot just a bit down the road. Would like to check that out
this week and see if it's still as easy to get too as it used to be?
Just a wide creek that crosses a local paved road and runs into a big
lake and in the past someone has always kept the right of way there
mowed off right down and around that creek bank. I've only been there
once or twice, that a long time ago and not for very long at a time. A
long time ago a neighbor lady said she and her family caught
bass, catfish, perch, crappie, etc. there. :-) And I just remembered that
the same neighbor told me last year that I can go fishing anytime I want
at her two farm ponds. :-) I'd forgotten that;but good thing I
remembered as her place is less than a mile down the road from me! LoL

Just taking it easy tonight. Been reading a good book before I went to
sleep this evening and reading some on a couple of newspapers. May read
a bit more, watch some TV and or sleep a bit more :-) before I get back
online?

Ronny:
I had a good time fishing this evening at a creek that goes into a local
lake. Stayed out about 4 hours and got my face sunburnt some! LoL Got 6
catfish and a small turtle! But had to throw 5 of the catfish back
because they weren't big enough. :-( But broiled the large one for
supper tonight. :-)

Saw one snake. I was on the bank and the silly thing swam right by me
like I wasn't even  there and you can believe I kept a good eye on that
one! LoL

Then I thought I saw two of the biggest snakes swimming up that creek
towards where I was! They kept getting closer and I stayed real still.
When they got close enough I realized they weren't snakes at all;but
beaver! I think? Or maybe nutria? I've heard of those last ones in
Louisiania; but don't know if we have them here in NE Texas or not?

The only problem this evening besides not catching enough big fish LoL
was that I had another sinus headache that kept coming and going. :-(
Nothing really bad;but just bothersome. Bugs me that I have had that off
and on for 3 days now.

Don't think I will go to the lake again for awhile. Got 4 neighboring
pools,closer to home,to check out! :-)

Would like to post more tonight;but better get to bed. Blood check at
the doctors office comes at 7:30 in the morning. I was in bed
earlier;but decided I better get up and eat a little more since I can't
eat after midnight or when I get up in the morning!LoL

Have heard that Mom did pretty good today. And that they have been able
to lower her pain meds some. Plan on going in to see her after my blood
work tomorrow. And tonight at 8:30 my BP was 142/88,so that's a lot
better than it was! :-)

I did think about that and it was a scarey thought to me;but I would
think my recent headaches were sinus because of my stopped up sinus on
one side of my head, etc. Mowed the yard today and it was dusty in
places. Should of went and found a dust mask to wear;but didn't,so took
a Benedryl later and slept all evening! LoL

Ronnie, since it's high allergy season in your neck of the woods, you might
want to look for Mucinex.  It makes your mucus membranes "sweat" so it gets
rid of what's irritating you as well as helping you drain (but make sure
you're drinking plenty of water).  But yes, even a wet bandana over your
nose will help.

PLEASE -- Ask your doc to be sure, but I think it may be safe with high
blood pressure.  I've been taking the stuff for allergies for about 10 years
(it used to be prescription).

Hi Ronny,

Thanks for updating us all.   You know one of the things we as caregivers
tend to do is to neglect our own health when we are so caught up in taking
care of a loved one.

I am so glad you caught this blood pressure thing!

Please do not underestimate how dangerous uncontrolled high blood pressure
can be!   They call it the "silent killer" because you can have a stroke or
it can kill your kidneys.

Everyone reading this should get checked and have a physical.   Health
issues can crop up and we are so busy or even so depressed with caregiving
that we tend to put them off till something serious comes along.

Glad your mom is coming along OK, Ronny, and it is always wonderful to read
your posts.

BTW, they say that petting cats is soothing and helps lower blood pressure
too.   I know you have a couple of cats around there, and I am sure they
will be happy to help you fish, too!

Have a great day, and catch up on your rest while mom being cared for in the
hospital.

And I wonder,if in general, males are worse than females about putting
off getting health problems checked? I know I put this off after my doc
told me my BP was up last fall and me checking it once after that. Could
of checked it again with the BP moniter I have;but didn't. Just ignored
it and tried not to think about whether it might be up or down.

I've been making Trouble2,my young tomcat stay outside more. LoL But
will let him back in more soon. :-) And no dog here in awhile;but a few
years back someone gave me an old doghouse. Saw Mama Cat in there last
week, peeked in and saw she had two kittens! :-) LoL Glad it was just two
though! I think it was 4 she had last year;but 3 disappeared. Did get
Trouble2 out of that deal though. :-) Still,
need to get Mama Cat to the low cost clinic soon after a bit and get her
neutered. This is her 2nd batch of kittens and that is more than enough.

Ronny:
I did get a looong nap this evening after taking some sinus pills. From
around 5 or 6pm until nearly midnight! Hated to have to take those;but I
couldn't get to sleep with that sinus headache. Need to find out what is
the safest and effective sinus med for someone with high blood pressure?
So will do some Google searching on that.

Also have a real good book with healthy and simple recipes in it. Past
time to use that! LoL Need to look up this book online and order it
used,as somehow my copy got wet a good while back? Think I forgot
onetime and left it outside when it rained some? Good thing I know I
didn't ever find it wet and in Mom's potty chair! LoL But need to order
that book and look through the copy I have now and make a list of a few
things I need to get at the grocery store this week. Good thing I love
brown rice, :-) as this book stresses that and also lots of fresh
vegetables, whole grains and some fruits. Just in general a low fat, low
salt and sugar book with a lot of good and simple recipes! :-)

And thinking this evening and tonight about the several large plastic
containers I have around here. Large things that held minerals for my
neighbor's cattle. Thinking to fill them up with a compost/soil mixture
and planting somethings in those. Healthy things I like, like
radishes, onions, turnips, turnip greens, etc. Will get some of those at
the grocery of course, before mine get ready;but would like to grow my
own also this year.

And need to get more small garden beds going in the yard. Have two 4x4
foot beds now that my tomatoes and peppers can go in.

And purslane. :-) Used to have that come up wild some in the old garden
spot. Very healthy and I like it. Need to get some of that going. Some
for eating and some kinds for their flowers! :-) Purslane/moss rose
grows and blooms around here in our hottest summer weather! Beautiful
flowers on some kinds of those!

Just a lot to do and ideas running out of my head on other things I want
to do. LoL

Onething interesting too. My Doc said Friday,no stress for a week until
my BP gets down. Next oldest Sis told me last week that I shouldn't be
using my weedeater now! :-) So I asked my doctor about that and she saw
no problem in me doing yardwork like that. Will take it easy of course.
:-) Don't mean to work my head off! LoL But I do have one rock enclosed
bed that I need to get a few dried weeds out of and cut the ryegrass out
of. It's in a sunny spot and I want to get it cleaned out so I can plant
some things there.

Think I better got off of here for awhile, stick my feet up,read a bit
and will probably fall back asleep. Maybe a snack first? :-) Pretty day
coming up in the morning and I want to be rested so I can get a few
things done or started.

Onething interesting too. My Doc said Friday,no stress for a week until
my BP gets down.

Hi Ronny,

If your doc gives you meds for your BP don't worry, there are lots of good
ones out there now.  I think almost everyone I know is taking a BP med of
some kind :-)

Now here is the scary thing;  There are no good drugs for sinus infections
that don't raise BP.   My doctor gave me some Allegra, which is pretty
helpful, but as for over the counter ones, they all tend to raise the BP.
So you need to get to see your regular doc soon, and he can get you fixed
up.   Men are notoriously worse than women about going for help, so don't
you do that, Okay?

Hope all goes well for you with your mom and everything...:-)

Ronny, so glad your mom is doing well.  Pain medicine is a life saver when
you have something like she has.  After my hip replacement, they gave me
pain medicine just before I went for therapy every morning and every
afternoon while I was at the rehab hospital.  Couldn't have done it
otherwise.  Pray she will be cooperative and able to do what they want her
to do, and she will heal very quickly.

Ronny, it's a shame that they can't take a BP reading on you while you're
fishing.  :-)  If it's not lower then, you're wound too tight!  I don't know
if you're a big coffee drinker, but I had to give it up for awhile because
it was making my BP spike.  Strange thing was that an equal amount of
caffeine in tea or other sources didn't cause a problem -- just coffee.
Take care!

Evelyn,it turned out the diet book I talked about and have didn't get
wet and it was in much better shape than I thought,so that's really
nice. :-)

Not so sleepy now-got awake thinking about that book, hunted for it and
found it.:-) It's called the 1 Day At A Time Diet by Joe D.
Goldstrich,M.D. & Daniel Kaufman. It stresses brown rice, fresh
vegetables,fruits,beans and low salt,fat and sugar,etc. So,since I got
awake reading in that book and another-I decided to just get started on
cooking my brown rice. LoL Nice too that it tells several ways to season
that without salt. :-) [Got chicken on my grocery list to make some low
fat chicken stock with.] I do like brown rice OK without seasoning;but
like it better with! LoL And I love that brown rice is so easy to
cook/prepare! :-)

Rice is done,so think I will eat a bit in a minute-that along with the
peaches I've already eaten.

Better get back out of here for now. :-)

Hi Ronny,

I have a great way of making brown rice, by the way.   I do it in the
microwave.   2 cups of rice 4 cups of water, in a microwave safe cooking
dish, uncovered, and set the microwave timer for 40 minutes.

Do the first ten minutes on high, then cut the power level to about 1/2
power, then keep watch that it doesn't boil over, and if it starts doing
that, lower the power level even more.

Don't stir or anything during the cooking time.   After the 40 minutes is
up, just shut the microwave off, cover it, and let it coast for a few more
minutes till you are ready to serve it.

Microwaves vary, but the idea is to keep it gently cooking without boiling
over.

We use brown basmati, which is hard to find, but we get it in the health
food store.   The aroma is sort of like cooking popcorn.   Totally awesome.

Hi Barb,

That sounds awful.   Sorry to hear you are going through that.

About the weight loss.... join the club!  But I have to tell you that
anything carbohydrate, including oats, seems to stimulate my appetite.   I
do a lot better by limiting the amount of carbs I eat daily.   Better for my
weight and also for my blood glucose.    Fortunately I love vegetables.

Evelyn, you would probably do well on "The Carbohydrate Addict's Diet" which
Grayson and I both lost weight on at one time.  You're allowed a certain
number of carbs at breakfast and lunch, but for one meal you eat anyting you
want in a reasonable amount.  Sure worked for us.

Anthony, I can drink a pot of Earl Grey or drink Red Bull energy drinks and
it doesn't have the same effect on my BP as one cup of coffee - even though
a pot of Earl Grey has more caffeine than a cup of coffee.  My morning
routine now is a pot of tea.

Another BP item is sodium.  If you have to watch your sodium intake, people
frequently don't realize that tap water can have high levels of sodium.
Sometimes naturally, sometimes from water treatments for 'hard' water.  But
it can be really difficult for someone trying to watch their sodium levels
because the first thing you look at is the salt shaker on the table, not
what's coming out of the tap.

That is true.

The best water both in taste and for health is purified by reverse osmosis.
It removes all the sodium (and lots of other junk) from the water, and you
cannot believe how utterly delicious it is.

We have Culligan deliver 5 gallon bottles of reverse osmosis purified water
to us, and we use it just for drinking water (and for tea).   We are totally
spoiled, even though we have quite an extensive water purification system
for our well water.   The one thing we don't have is a reverse osmosis unit,
but we are happy with the bottled water, so we'll stick with that.

As usual, Evelyn has it pegged in her post, but yes, if you're watching your
sodium, bottled water is lower (reverse osmosis or distilled, spring water
can depend on what spring).  Another hidden source is fresh chicken -- they
inject it with broth that has sodium in it.  Our society sneaks it into a
lot of places you wouldn't expect.  If you're really having to watch it for
health reasons, you have to really read labels.

Karen, I too am sensitive to certain kinds of sodium.   Oddly enough, the
salt that comes from the grocery store in the round containers will cause me
to retain fluid and raises my blood pressure, but Kosher salt does not, and
it has the side benefit of actually tasting better.

Apparently there are certain additives in the regular salt, but not in the
Kosher salt.   If you read the box it lists them.   Notice all the great
chefs use Kosher salt too.   I had hubby drill out the holes in the salt
shaker to accommodate the coarser quality.    The thing that really bothers
me the most is when we eat at the Chinese restaurant, there is rather a lot
of salt in Chinese food!

Evelyn, you may already do this, but if you look for Chinese food places
that don't use MSG, you'll lower the sodium content of the dish.  Some
places will steam the food, making it even healthier.  If you add that to
steamed rice (instead of fried rice) you can have a healthy meal, but you do
have to hunt out the places that will fix it that way.

One strange thing is American food tends to be even higher in MSG than
Asian.  I found this out when I developed an allergy to MSG.  Vietnamese Pho
soup would cause minor hives but corn dogs sent me into anaphalactic shock.
I had an Vietnamese friend tell me that Americans use too much MSG when they
use it.  :-)

Hi Karen,

Thanks for the suggestions.  Unfortunately my husband enjoys going to the
chinese buffet..... where everything is swimming in grease, and drenched in
salty sauces :-(   We tried a different chinese restaurant today, a regular
sit down restaurant.   It was a little better, since I can order steamed
food there.

Thank you all again, for the well wishes, recipes and all. :-)

Mom's still doing fairly good except for being very agitated at times.
Next oldest Sis told me Monday that they had to give Mom a shot of
Haldol(sp?) to get her to sleep. Seems she was very agitated, not
sleeping, pulled out her catheter, (sigh) and was taking off her hospital
gown! :-) Sis didn't see how Mom managed that with it being tied in the
back;but manage it she did! LoL

I had my cholesteral blood work done early Monday morning and will find
out about that later on. Got to see/talk with Mom  just a few seconds
that morning before she fell back asleep. And I think this Thursday is
the day she will be moved to the nursing home for rehab?

Last night my oldest Sis came by and she thinks it best if Mom comes
straight home from the hospital instead of going to the nursing home for
awhile. I didn't say anything to that because it's not going to
happen;but I did wonder how she thought I would take care of Mom with
her in her present condition? I'm just hoping Mom can come home after a
month or so of rehab and only then if we think that's whats best for
her. And only time will tell on that part.

I went fishing at 4 of my neighbors ponds yesterday evening. :-) Caught
13 catfish, two big enough to keep,so kept the biggest and broiled it
for supper. Had the same the evening before;but the 2nd was better
because I had picked up some Mrs. Dash lemon seasoning to put on it.
That really made it good tasting! :-)

Thought I better get some house cleaning done today. :-) So,picked up
papers, washed dishes, got a load of clothes hung out, yard picked up
some, mowed the yard and visited a bit with a new neighbor. The yard was
dusty in places,so took a Benedryl after mowing and slept all evening!
LoL

I'm used to rushing when I shop and several times this past week I've
had to remind myself to slow down-that I can slow down because I don't
have to rush and get back home so quick. And when sitting in the living
room,I've several times expected to see Mom laying in her bed when I
look over that way. Strange thing to be used to something, expect things
to be a certain way and then realize that they aren't that way right
now.

So far I've found I'm pretty happy with my own company. :-) Which is
sort of a surprise because I used to hate being in this house by myself
when Mom was in the hospital. I'm not watching more TV. In fact,I'm
surprised to find I'm watching less than usual. Still doing some
reading. But have had some fun fishing, doing yardwork and visiting with
Mom and others a bit at the hospital.

Have even let my cat,Trouble2,in less. I feed and water him and my other
cats;but Trouble2 demands attention after that as well. (ha) So I end up
making him go out after a bit,so I can enjoy my peace and quite! LoL

Need to get more into my diet this week. Add somemore healthy stuff to
it. Plant a bit outside. Work on some more planting beds. And definately
do more fishing. LoL Want to get my trotline out too,so I can get some
catfish out of our pond. So I need to clean out the fridges freezer,so I
can make room for the good stuff. :-)

Right now just taking it easy. Might just go back to sleep early? :-)

Hi Ronny,

Your sister probably means well, but she is not thinking too clearly on that
request.

I hope you decide to let your mom stay in the hospital for her rehab for as
long as is needed, and maybe even longer.   The reason I say this is because
of the well known effect of general anesthesia on people with alzheimers.

It is said that it makes the dementia worse, and sometimes they never regain
the level of functioning they had before being anesthetized.   This is why
so many caregivers agonize over whether or not to permit any kind of surgery
on their loved ones, unless it is absolutely necessary.   Of course, having
a broken hip is in the "absolutely necessary" category, but you don't know
for sure how it has affected your mom.

The worst thing is that they can't remember why they are in the hospital,
what this or that (like the catheter) is for, or that they even had an
injury that needed attention in the first place.

I am so glad you are enjoying your free time just now, Ronny.   You surely
need and deserve the little mini-vacation while your mom is healing up from
her hip surgery.

If I don't have a chance to say so again, please have a wonderful Easter!

Ronny, think about me when you eat those catfish, but I prefer mine fried.
I do love them.  Try to take it a little easier and get some good resting
time while your mom is not there to keep you on your toes all the time.  But
fishing is restful too, huh!

Ronnie i am so sorry your mom fell. But i'm happy everything is going
well for her, isn't that wonderful, and your sisters are helping.
Great.

I love your posts too Ronnie. You seem to be a man of the land and i
just love that.

Take care of your high blood pressure. My husband tends to high blood
pressure and was given Avapro. He stopped taking it 'cause he's ok now.
The over weight we have influences blood pressure, so i feed him
healthy stuff and we walk for 50 mins every evening and its ok for now.
We just have to keep at it and dont forget it.

Do plant some of your vegetables if you can and you'll enjoy both
cultivating, harvesting and eating. Lots of love to you Ronnie. Take
care.

My oldest Sis was not so helpful though last night. (ha) It won't

I've started a bit healthier eating now. :-) More cutting down some on
what's not good for me and adding just a bit of what I know is good for
me. Got a great diet book for that with lots of good, simple low fat/salt
recipes. Need to get more on that this week.

Ronny:
Thank you. :-) And doing the above is a part of what I hope to do this
week! :-) Got one small 4x4 planting bed cleaned out today so that I can
plant in it later this week. Thinking of putting my tomato plants in
that one and radishes around the edges. Need to make up a list of seeds
I want to get when shopping. Will go to a local nursery and probably end
up with more seeds and plants than I need! LoL

Much to do around here;but plan to tackle just a bit a day.
