My alz patient is 84 and in late stage 5 early 6 I think.  ?  He is now
starting to choke regularly on liquids.  He seems to swallow the wrong way
quite often.  Is this common at these stages?  His diet is pure liquid, so I
can't compare to his ability to eat solid food.

Thanks
Phoebe

The problem is called dysphagia - and its quite common. There are a
number of thickening agents you can add to liquids that reduce the
choking problem. The real worry is aspiration pneumonia.

Here's a couple of sites with typical products

Phoebe, my husband had to have liquids thickened before he died.
