Hello all - This is my first time visiting this group - I hope you can help
me with a question.

My Aunt/Godmother has Alzheimer's. She's at the point now where she doesn't
know who I am and will not except any sort of gift from anyone for Christmas
or birthday, as she doesn't like anything "new".

Rather than give her a gift for these occasions as we all did in the past
only to have to return them the next day, I want to take the money I would
have used on the gift and give it to a charity that supports Alzheimer
research or care giving.

Can anyone suggest a good charity where my money will be of the most
assistance?

Thank you for your help.

The Alzheimer association.   This is the link for the national one.  There
are individual chapters in each state.

I think you are doing a very good thing.

Thank you all for your help - It sounds like the Alzheimer's Association is
the way to go.  I see there is also an Alzheimer's Foundation, but it looks
like the Association is organization of choice.

My Aunt lives in Staten Island, NY, while I am up in Massachusetts.  I
assume it's best to give to the local chapter where she is - ie. New York.

Thanks again for your help.

Look in the phone book for your local Alzheimer's Association.
