Hi!

Can anyone here tell me if the pills of the Alzheimer Meds Aricept,
Exelon and Reminyl at higher doses are divisible  (scissile? What does
one say in english?). I ask, because they cost almost the same at
higher doses as at the minimum dosis.

Bye,
Paul

Please check with a pharmacist on this.

These are people trying hard to care for someone who has one of the
cruelest illnesses one could  ever hope to have.
I know what it can be like.I cared for my wife as best i could
until she died from a non dementia related illness this September.
The people here, carers and sufferers, are to be admired for the
great courage and strength they show. They certainly do not deserve
to be ridiculed by a cowardly sociopathic little runt like yourself.

I cut Reminyl 12 mg's in half ...

studies I read showed minimal extra benefit going from 8mg 2x per day
to 12 mg 2x per day.  Of course half of 12 is 6.  I give a whole one
in morning and half at night.

Medicare plan D will help a lot.  I think price will go down about
80%.  Reminyl is now called Razadyne ... same stuff.

Just trying to recall----Was galantamin  the OTC, (available at  health
food stores,)  ?

A while back it was discussed here, I think by Frederick.....That would
explain its availabity under other names---no patent..

Yes, it was called Galantamine.

We tried Galantamind (I still have some), but somehow decided it
didn't seem as effective.  It is a big capsule compared to a small
pill for same dosage, apparently not as refined somehow.  It is
supposed to have 8mg galantamine.

You can't buy "Reminyl" any more, Razadyne is just a new name, same
patent.  With Medicare D, Razadyne will actually be cheaper than the
"Galantamind", though you don't need a prescription for Galantamind.

Exelon is only available as a capsule, so splittingthe dosage is not an
option.
