Oh yes, dont tell her its a secret!!!!!!  :-)

When she went back home in the summer i called ahead to her parents and
asked them if they could buy a bunch of flowers on my behalf and give them
to her and i would send the cash on, they said they have a large
garden/allotment a few miles from there appartment and would get some from
there.  Anyway a few weeks ago she was going home for the weekend from her
Uni digs a long way from home, so i called, i spoke to her father who doesnt
speak English so it was quite funny trying to explain what i wanted, but
last week i saw on her camera while in Rome the flowers they did for her,
and a 'note' with 'Mit liebe Jules' i wanted them to put on, will stick it
on the website later today.

Nice pix! Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful girl, you lucky duck.

Quit smoking, your lungs will
thank you.

I saw a funny sign in a local
BBQ restaurant last week:

"If you are smoking...
you better be on fire!"

and Anett found out plans what i intended to do.  Im just waiting until my
granddad cant remember who i am at all so it doesnt upset him in the short
term.

Julian you are too young to be giving up on life, no matter what it holds.
Drinking doesn't help much, you know.... and along with the smoking, can
only make everything worse with the complications they add to the mix.

There are some things that definitely do help, but they involve a lot of
committment to the right kind of exercises to strengthen the muscles around
the injured parts, and maybe pursuing things to whatever medical limits are
available.   A lady I know with similar problems has done that and gotten
some pretty good relief.

What she did recently involved shots into her back that deadened the painful
nerves giving her the first relief she's had in many years.   So don't give
up.   They develop new therapies for injuries like yours all the time.

I don't think there's a person here who hasn't got your best interest at
heart.  We all followed your story with Annet with kind thoughts.   We all
want you to be happy and live your life to the fullest you can!  If your
grandparents could tell you, I am sure that's what they'd say too.   So
think positively and don't give up on your life.

I just dont see me having a good future, the pain 24/7 that in winter months
i just cant cope with etc. I tried many things over the years at clinics,
only one works but i cant afford it and thats electric shocks in my back.

I put a few more pics up on the Rome page at the bottom, take a look!

I'll take a peek at those pics in a minute.   But first let me say that they
are finding new things that help pain like yours all the time.  If the
electric shock stuff works, then a lot of your pain could be from muscle
spasms and inflammation.   The right therapies can sometimes relieve a lot
of that.   I sympathize because I have had a very bad back all of my life.
I bought a special foam mattress that helps sometimes, and even still,
sometimes sleeping in a recliner is the only thing that helps.

I have a whole collection of drugs for the problem, and to tell you the
truth, the ones that relax the muscles and relieve inflammation are the ones
I get the best results from.   The pain killers don't do much but just for a
couple of hours and then the pain comes back, so I do know how relentless it
can be, but I think your injuries are worse than mine.    If the
conventional therapies don't work, then try some of the unconventional ones.

I have another lady friend who was told she'd never walk again.   Well, she
walks quite a lot now, and coping with her pain takes a huge amount of
effort, but her best therapy turned out to be swimming.   She actually has a
swimming pool in her garage with a motor that makes a current for her to
swim against.  Without it she'd be totally crippled.   She even has a
successful business repairing musical instruments.  Sometimes she can only
lay on the floor while she repairs them, believe it or not!    She wears a
back brace and is constantly going to massage therapists and (very gentle)
chiropractors and acupuncturists and whatever.   But she has managed to find
a life and become successful, even though she was nearly crippled for life
and her international music career was stopped dead after her accident.

She is really an inspiration, though she is in constant severe pain, like
you are going through.  Even if you can't get rid of the pain, you might
find ways to manage it so it is more bearable.   Staying in the best of
health you can is only going to help with that.

Keep your courage up and don't lose hope no matter how bleak it seems
sometimes.

Now I will go look at those pictures!

Gwen

We had a nice few days, it was a struggle for me to walk and luckily the
Italian cops and security at the buildings let me jump ques with my
disiabitly badge which is valid anywhere in Europe, it took me soooo long to
climb all the steps up to that big domed building and really hurt and nearly
killed me, Netty doesnt get ashamed when i struggle to walk, she doesnt want
to walk 5 metres infront of me like most girls do.

Something funny happened while were staying at our friends appartment.
As Anett is E German, she doesnt really have a sense of humour like us
Englsih, or Americans i guess.......at night i pulled the shutter down
outside of the kitchen doors to the balcony, anyway i went out for a cig so
pulled it up a bit but i still had to duck under, Anett didnt see it and
banged her head so me and Matti laughed as it was really funny to see , she
didnt really hurt herself but it was so funny to see her walk into it,
anyway she did it the following night and she said to me why i didnt lift
the shutter all the way up and i said well you cant really miss it cant you,
its a big brown thing.................and once you hit your head with it
once your never going to do it again are you?

Anyway the third night Matti only put it half up, but this time i warned her
to mind her head, then she started saying i was stupid for not putting it
all the way up etc etc. so i said it wasnt me who did it and i just didnt
want her to bang her head. Then she sort of understoood. She couldnt see the
funny side at all, or maybe it was because shes a girl. Matti who is W
German told me lots of jokes about E Germans.

Jules did you ever get checked out by the German doctor that Annet wanted
you to see a while back?   Was just curious to know if you found out if
anything further could be done for your injuries.
