Did anyone see Boston Legal last night? It was really good! I'd like to see
more shows that talk about this "insidious disease", as they rightly called
it. I already forgot how many millions they said have it now and in just a
few years the projection of how many more millions will be affected by it -
either having it, or having a family member that has it, or knowing someone
that has it. Horrific.... I just shook my head over the AD lady on the show,
it was just all too familiar. At one point, I looked over at my MIL & asked
her if any of that sounded familiar. She just shook her head, kinda laughed
in bewilderment, and said "no". Hubby & I just threw each other sad, knowing
looks. Just like the lady on the show, there are some things she is very
aware of and other things, you can forget it.

I was surprised at her insistence that she remembered seeing who was
driving the car, as my mother lost her ability to form new memories
before the old ones started to fade.  But I thought they were portrayed
the woman with respect, unlike some of the characters on the show, who
are laugh-out-loud over the top.

It was especially interesting when Shirley the lawyer, after badgering
this woman on the stand to create "reasonable doubt" in the mind of the
jury, went to the nursing home to read to her father, who looked to be
in stage 7 of Alzheimer's.  She was ashamed of herself and showed it;
but she did it.

Jo Ann Malina, make spamthis best to find my address
I dread no more the first white in my hair
Or even age itself, the easy shoe
The cane, the wrinkled hands, the special chair;
Time, doing this to me, may alter too
My sorrow, into something I can bear.
