Ronny TX - 08 Nov 2005 05:50 GMT I am tired;but happy tonight because a couple of hours ago I finished up cleaning my bedroom. Got about 10 small grocery sacks full of books to take to Goodwill.
This time I even got the drawers on my desk cleaned out! :-) Did that late tonight. Old stuff thrown in the trash and need to keep stuff sorted and put in file folders! So I am tired;but downright happy with myself! LoL

That's a job I need to do with this whole house. I need to go through each and every drawer and cabinet and closet and start throwing things out! Last year just at this time I fell and broke my shoulder. It was two surgeries and months of rough and painful therapy till I began to get back to some semblance of normal again. Then shortly after that, Ida died in the spring. Now that I truly have my life back it is time to take stock of things and streamline the operations around here! Then I am going to have a whopping big yard sale next spring!

And in reading your post, man have you had it rough for awhile now! :-( Just glad your now able to get back to somethings you want to do. Just don't try to do too much at onetime!
I would of got more done today than I did; but had to go to my doctor mid-morning. Did get the bottom of the fridge cleaned out and the dishes washed though. Then bringing in and hanging out clothes this morning and evening.
You know back in the spring/summer I got my Dad's old bedrrom cleaned out and then the far back room completely cleaned out. The trouble is I had to put somethings from the back room in my Dad's old bedroom! LoL Started getting sick I think sometime around the first part of August,so I didn't get anymore done back there. But I got another good start on that room this evening late. :-) Hope to get another big chunk done on it tomorrow. Would of been tempted to do more on it this evening and tonight;but I was pretty tired and had to go take my doctor ordered 20 minute soak bath and oil myself up with Crisco again! LoL Doc gave me written orders when I first saw him two weeks ago that said I just had to do those soak for 10 days,so after that I was so happy to get to go back to taking showers! :-) But today doctor told me I should keep up the soak baths and putting on the moisturizer. More or less said I shouldn't of stopped that. OK;but I thought why did your written instructions say to do all that for 10 days when I wasn't to come back to see you for 2 weeks?! (ha)
Was real tempted tonight to go back and work on that old bedroom just a bit;but thought I better not since I'm cleaned up and would get some dirty again if I did.
The trouble is I've been hyped up to clean house and couldn't do it and then had to take it easy when I did. Hard for me to take it easy for any reason when I'm hyper up to do something! LoL
9:30pm here. Mom's had her meds and ate a bit. Think I will go to bed, read some on a good book I've got and then if all goes well I will be able to get back on that room some early in the morning. Sooner I go to sleep, sooner I can wake up and do something! LoL
I'm not super hyper here; :-) but just determined hyper. :-) And pretty blamed happy with some stuff I have planned to do this fall and winter.
LJ - 08 Nov 2005 13:33 GMT Good for you <s>

Onething that has been bugging me is I can't find my life insurance policy. :-( Surely will find it sooner or later;but paid it off years ago and put it up in a safe place. Thought to look at it lately and of course,I can't remember where the safe place is I put it! LoL Ah well, will find it yet as I continue to clean house. ----------

I feel better when it's done too! LoL
I've made a good dent this evening on my Dad's old bedroom-a 12x12 square foot room. Of course,it hasn't had a bed in it for years now. Years ago I gave Dad's old bed, which had belonged to his Mom,to my oldest sister and his dresser to one of my brother's. Made sure all promised to keep them in the family. :-) Not because they were antiques;but because they were family heirlooms.
We have a good sized chest freezer in that room that we haven't used in a long time. Cleaned that out last spring and aired and dried it out good. Now putting some boxes of books and magazines, etc in there until I can get some more bookshelves and bookcases built! Of course, found more books to take to Goodwill and some stuff that just needed burning out back in my burn barrel.
Taking a break now;but better get back to work in a bit. :-) Sure would be nice if I could finish that room up today! Hope that's not wishful thinking on my part! LoL --------------

LoL > --- Ronny TX - 10 Nov 2005 06:12 GMT It's midnight and I've quit work on Dad's old bedroom for tonight. Just have my two tool boxes to sort out, maybe two more very small boxes with assorted junk in them and 2 or 3 other little things to clean up or put away in that old room,so I am around 98% finished with that room and that makes me very happy! LoL Surely didn't think I would get this far tonight!
After this I want to tackle that middle bedroom again. I got on it last spring or early summer, took the old bed down and out of the house and can't really remember what else;but I did a good bit of other cleaning in there too. So,have it maybe 70% cleaned up already, though no one but me would know that to look at it now! LoL Just want to now finish what I started earlier this year.
After that room, comes our one big closet and then my outside storage building. I figure I better keep going while I'm able too and on a roll! LoL

> Evelyn: > That's great, Ronny. It must be very [quoted text clipped - 3 lines] > here, and I have a lot of re-organizing > to do too! Ronny: It does feel good to be making progess on my goals here. :-) And I know what it's like for me not to be able to get myself in gear at times. Sometimes for quite some time. And I figure for mental, physical and or for both reasons as the mind effects the body and the body effects the mind. So sometimes I have been known to study on why I can't get myself going at times. Interesting thing to do. Learn somethings at times and at other times just get a glimpse at what might be causing a problem.
And I have to have a goal. Sometimes the goal is simply a nice, clean looking room; but my cleaning now goes past that. Way past that. Just cleaning my bedroom and say my big desk with the computer on it, cleaning that desk was simply so I can use that computer and get online with it. Couldn't do that with books and stray papers here and there all over it! LoL
The other two rooms and the one I plan to clean next,I have some uses planned for those rooms. 3 rooms out of a small 7 room house. Plenty of room to start off with for various things. :-) Maybe I could open a brothel?! Just kidding! LoL
Lady from home health should be here in 3 or 4 hours and when she comes,I need to go grocery shopping and such. Yesterday before she left, she mentioned that she would sweep behind the TV and such;but said I needed to get up the wires there. :-) Well,if I get up the TV antenna lead in wires and such, then I might as well do that sweeping myself.
And I need to clean up my little corner of the living room here;but that won't take long.
Lady said she would give Mom a shower today. I went to sleep at 3am and woke up at 8. Mom got up shortly after that and went to here potty chair. So I went to check her. Figured I would need to change her Depends and house dress. Then saw the #2 smeared in several places on the back of her housedress- some up fairly high! :-( And she had no Depends on! Thought I would have to immediately try to talk her into the shower to clean her up;but got her house dress off and there was not a thing I could see on her skin anywhere! Now that surprised me. So got a clean house dress on Mom and a clean Depends, emtied her potty chair and then took it out back to wash it out. Then sitting here online a bit and it hit me,where did Mom put the Depends that she has on late last night!
:-( Got to get up in bit and look for that! But my stomach isn't quite up to that when I first get up!LoL {Lost a bit of my late supper just emptying the potty chair bucket in the commode! :-( LoL} But it will have to be in a few minutes! Funny thing about my stomach. Sometimes things like this morning don't bother me too much;but sometimes it bothers me a lot! Just never know which it will be?
Better go for now,get fully woke up and get a few things done this morning. :-)
LindaJean - 10 Nov 2005 16:49 GMT it sure feels good when you get in the groove with a big chore :-)

BTW,got at least 14 small grocery bags full of old books took to Goodwill today. Got a little tickled at the outside guy who helped me get them out of the truck. We got to talking and I got to looking at what new stuff had come in. Then all of a sudden this guy put his hand up close to his ear/side of his face and really started talking pretty fast! I wondered at first if he was still talking to me or not? Then it hit me that he though he was talking on the phone to someone else. :-) Went inside, bought a couple of books and asked the lady checker up front if what I had thought was right. She just grinned real big and said;oh yeah,he thinks he's talking on that phone a lot! :-)
Got Mom's meds today,to the tobacco shop, farm store and grocery shopping. Only hitch was after the pharmacy-after I'd already bought groceries. Truck wouldn't start! :-( But did about a minute of fiddling with it under the hood as I've found to do before and it started right up! Yeah! LoL
Already have my birds fed this evening, all the trash burnt that didn't go off with the trash pickup this morning, one big load of clothes to hang out before dark, which comes in about 30 minutes now,so I better not stay online too long right now!:-)
Got my check(s) in the mail today that I need to get in the bank next week. And took about an 1 1/2 nap after getting in from shopping. Got in at 12:30,here it is 5 and Mom's still sleeping;but then she got up pretty early this morning.
I was a little down after waking up from my nap. Don't know why? Chilly in the house and I just had on a T-shirt top. Got my light jacket pretty quick and turned the heater on for a few minutes to get the chill out of the house! LoL Around 70° today, cloudy and humid. Yesterday was sunshine and mid 80's. Not sure;but the sudden shift in weather may of depressed me just a little bit? Reminded me too that the next time I go shopping I need to pick up 2 or 3 sets of longjohns before our really cool/cold weather gets here! LoL
Better get off in a bit and hang out those clothes!

Ronny, want to get un-depressed real quick? We are expecting a FREEZE tonight. Yes, you read that right. Here in the catskills it is suddenly quite chilly. Hubby told me he actually saw some snowflakes. Don't complain, you Texans are doing quite OK compared to that!

And you're right, Evelyn, it's just a gorgeous part of the country.
About 10 ten years ago we had sold our house and were considering where we wanted to live. We had traveled quite a bit and had no real family ties here - so where did we move?? A block and a half away. Moving day (Mid January) was socked in with a Nor'easter, schools closed (meaning no local plowing til much later in the day). We used the snow blowers to clear the old driveway, a path to the new house, and the new driveway. Once the moving van arrived we were moved in record time. I think a nice snow storm (meaning no bitter temps or winds) energizes us!
Ruth P.S. If you ask me to relate this story in late January or February you might sense a less enthusiastic view of the #$%&^ snow :-)

Yes, I can certainly relate to that :-)
When hubby and I retired early to take care of his mom, he insisted we ought to move out of the crowded little community where we'd lived for 20 years, which is one hour south of where we are now, and he told me to choose where we'd go, but that no matter what, we were moving!
We talked about it carefully, and I had an elderly parent still alive and he had his mom still alive. We felt we needed to stay in the Northeast, even though we owned a nice building lot in Texas near my daughter's home. So we found this house in Woodstock (yes, the famous one) which was where we used to love to go whenever we had a chance, for the great shops and restaurants and the Tibetan buddhist center nearby where we are members. http://www.kagyu.org
Woodstock is in the heart of the Catskills, near the city of Kingston (if you are looking at a map) and it had so many things to draw us. We were married here years ago, had friends here, plus it is an arts community, and I am an artist. The house is on a wonderful wooded lot in a huge forest, and we have bears and wild turkeys and deer roaming through the yard all the time. It is gorgeous year round, even in the winter, yet we have all the convenience of good shopping malls, hospitals, just everything one could need, within a few minutes drive.
I have the best neighbors I have ever had in my life, belong to quite a few local organizations, and life has never been so good as it is just now.
But I have to tell you that it took a long time to get back in life's groove after we placed my MIL in the nursing home. We were both severely depressed after almost 4 years of caregiving. I know how hard it is, and that is why I still come here to this group.
