Hope that storm doesn't do too much harm, and that you and yours are all
safe.

My mother lives in an Alzheimer's ALF in the Medical Center area of Houston.
So, she must be evacuated.  My brother and SIL who live close by her and
also must evacuate are moving her to a nursing home in a town inland where
they will be riding out the storm.   She is 87 years old, frail, and in the
later stages of Alzheimer's.  I know this move will not be good for her but
we are doing the best that can be done.  The ALF is evacuating all remaining
residents to a shelter in Austin.  I'll just say my prayers for all of them.

Camille, hope this won't be too bad on your mother, and your brother and
SIL.  Praying for everybody in Rita's path.

Camille, prayers for your family and everyone else down there. I talked
with my cousin today. His mom had come up to his house in Austin (she
lives in Houston) as had his brother.  I still haven't been able to
reach my elderly brothers-in-law who live in the Houston area.

Thank you for your prayers.  The phone system isn't working properly.  The
system is busy most of the time.  Our cell phones are working better today
than yesterday but not great.  So it is difficult to reach people.  And so
many people have evacuated the city.  I hope you hear from your
brothers-in-law soon.  The TV is reporting that 2.8 million people have
evacuated the Gulf Coast.  Thoughts and prayers for them all.

Thanks so much, Evelyn.

We are slightly north of Houston but doing all we can to be prepared. My MIL
seems to be somewhat aware of what is going on when she watches it in the
news. We are *not* making a big deal of it. There is no need & we don't want
her to get agitated. But my BIL came in to rest from helping to clear off
the patio - I was in the kitchen. I heard her ask him what he was doing, he
answered we were getting ready for the hurricane. So she asks "Are we going
to have a hurricane?".... I dunno folks. Time like this, maybe it is better
they don't completely grasp what is going on.

I remember Alicia hitting in 1983. That was scarey enough. I wish everyone
on the coast well - be safe. ~~~Octavia

Me too.
My daughter and her family are just northwest of Austin.
You all have my prayers and best wishes for safety.
