Wednesday afternoon, I dislocated my replaced hip for the third
time---Sept.2000, Sept. 2001, and Sept. 2005.  Next September I'm going to
bed and staying there until the month is over!!!  So I am back in my
abduction brace and walking funny for about 6 weeks or so.  I'm doing fine
though, very little pain since it was put back in.

How do you dislocate it? Is it one of those things where just turning
the wrong way pops it out, or does it take a fall?

Just curious. I expect a hip replacement is in my future.

Mary, I did it each time by doing something I shouldn't have.  The first
time I was sitting in a recliner and I leaned to the front and right to pick
up a puppy.  You are not supposed to bend the hip more than 90 degrees.  The
second time I was in the prayer room at church and leaned over and to the
right to get something from my purse on the floor.  Then Wednesday, I was
going to use my hand vacuum to clean up the floor in the corner of the room.
I guess this time I was leaning to the front and to the left.  The hand
vacuum is still lieing on the floor!  The hard part was getting from where I
was to the other side of the room where the phone was on the piano.  I used
my hand to push against the computer desk and file cabinet, and then had to
fall on the floor on my left hip and pull myself over to call 911 and my
son.  All the doors were locked, so the medic on the fire truck took a
window and screen out of a patio window and then got the other door into the
house unlocked some way.  I think they had gotten me on the backboard before
Billy got here.  He took my dog to his house, went by school to pick up my
daughter-in-law and then got to the hospital shortly after we did.  Jayne,
my DIL, stayed with me that night and the next day.  I'm wearing my
abduction brace I used the second time it dislocated so I'm doing fine on my
own--just walking very funny!  I see my doctor Monday morning.

Oh my! Glad you're having minimal pain with it.  I'd think it would be
difficult to remember not to bend or turn certain ways after doing it
so long prior to the replacement.  Sorry you're having to deal with
this.

Just curious -- were you doing the same September task?  (like harvesting
the garden or some such?)
