Maureen (aka Mo) is back and wishing everyone the best. Ever since AOL
dropped it's newsgroups I accepted that there was no more A.S.A. Boy do
I feel dumb. It just dawned on me to look this place up on google and
see what comes up. My gosh how good it feels to be back.

Mom passed away last November from Pneumonia. She didn't linger long
and was in no pain that I could see. My dad and two brothers and some
of the grandkids were there by her side. I was happy about that. I
think it helped my dad a bit as well.

My dad misses her and gets sad now and then. Their wedding anniversary
and her birtdhay were the worst for him. I took him out to dinner and
made it a special evening for him and it helped a little bit.

Last year my dad, 83, was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure.
Walks with a cane all the time now. Feels better walking when he has
his cane with him. He lost his footing earlier this year and fell down
in the kitchen. He hit his head going down and layed there for a good
15-20 minutes before he came to the reality he is injured and needs
help. He started to get up to go across the street to our neighbors
house. Another neighbor saw him and helped him to our neighbor who
happens to be a registerd nurse. He had been bleeding from his forehead
really bad all that time. 12 stitches. I didn't know a thing until I
came home from work. I was surprised to find my dad not home and a call
from my brother giving me the basics. They came home not to long after
I got home from work and I was told more details. I'm so grateful to
still have him here. No lingering effects from the fall, thank
goodness.

I am still working for Disneyland Resort of Anaheim California. I can't
beleive it has been 2-1/2 years. The good thing with the amount of time
I have in is better hours. I haven't worked a 2am shift in a couple of
months. So nice! However now that the school season is upon us my hours
will be cut because everyone is in school less people in the park. Oh
well, gives me more time to clean the house out and set up for my yard
sale. The only sad part about my working is my dad gets depressed
sometimes during the day. I always call him when I get in my car to go
home and he says the same thing at least 2 or 3 times a week. "Oh I'm
so glad you called. I've been so dispondent all day. Please hurry
home." And he sound so sad when he says it. It doesn't make me feel
guilty though. I won't let it. I try to call him during one of my
breaks now and then just to perk him up and it seems to help.

As for my health, I am just getting over a two week bout with an Upper
Resperatory Infection and 10 day bout with Viral Pink Eye in my right
eye. Not fun! Cost me alot of days from work. So glad my dad bought
that hospital-type bed years ago when he owned a mattress factory. I
probably picked up the two from work.  Wound up in the emergency room.
I feel so much better now.

I am so stressed out. However I never felt very stressed out when I was
with this group. It sure feels good to be back.

Time to go to sleep. Gotta work tomorrow. I hope the weather is not so
hot. I work an outdoor venue and won't appreciate the heat.

Mo, nice to see you back.  Sorry about your mom, but I know there is a level
of relief that she is no longer suffering from AD.  I remember when you went
to work at Disneyland; glad you're still there and getting better hours.

Mo i am new around here and dont post much  but i remember reading
your posts because i read all 2004 posts. It is nice of you to share
your story. I am glad your mum went calmly. As for your dad, at his
age they enjoy talking about the happy moments they once had, books
read, travels etc. Engage him in those subjects when you can and watch
him smile. Good luck.

thanks for all the welcome backs.

Due to some changes at work people are leaving which is boosting my
seniority. Sooo nice! :-)

>> As for your dad <<

Oh paleeese don't get me started.  I woke up this morning feeling so
good after an 8 hour sleep session. Those are rare for me.  First words
out of his mouth, "I can't find my underwear, I'm out of diapers, I
lost my teeth, and my toilet is stopped up." So I find his underwear
and some diapers. His teeth are a lost cause. Time to get some new
ones. He fixes the toilet after I find the plunger. I'm off to work and
the day goes down hill from there. Forgot my mad money. I have $5 to my
name. I have microwave popcorn, which I burnt to a crisp. My soda gets
stuck in the machine, and the m&m's are beyond melted. I am home now
and could sure use a hug dad. Somehow that always seems to make me feel
a little better. Time to go to sleep for an early rise tomorrow which
is not a bad thing. It means I can have dinner with my dad at a decent
hour. I hope everyone else is fairing(sp?) well. It may not seem like
it but I am doing all right.
