Checking Out Assisted Living

Wish me luck!   Today is the day that I'm taking my mother who has dementia
and my brother who is in somewhat denial about it to an assisted living
facility to check it out.   I just hope my brother won't find an excuse to
not to go with us.   He keeps saying that Mom will let him know when she's
ready.   Mom's 86.   Why is it that some people think that a person with
dementia can make these decisions?   Sometime's when I think that I and the
rest of the family are getting through to him,  he reverses back to his
denial.

Well, we all went to see the assisted living facility.   I could tell my
brother was impressed at how nice it is.   In fact he even said he might not
mind living there!   Not that he would but at least it was a positive
reaction.   I guess I was expecting the worst but really it's getting
better.   Mom's about 7th on their list but that's ok.   We have a plan
formulated for her care soon.   She seemed to like it but it's getting hard
to tell how much she can absorb these days.   She's not there yet but it's
looking like there will be a resolution to her living situation and she
won't be going to Florida to live alone this winter........

Wonderful. And good for your peace of mind. So glad it's working out.

Oh June, I am so happy for you all that your brother saw the light.   Here's
a good wish for her safety and and an easy and comfortable relocation in the
AL facility.
