Sent this out to local MPs (Members Of Parliament) - thought I'd share it
with you.
I am sure that you are aware of the proposals for NICE to ban the
administration of Dementia treating drugs within the NHS later next month -
at a cost of only £2.50 per day per person, I think this proposal is
abominable and would very much like your views on the matter and/if you plan
on doing anything to address this issue.
"New research suggests that currently available anti dementia drugs not only
alleviate the symptoms, but also reduce the destructive processes that kill
brain cells in Alzheimer's disease. This exciting new scientific evidence
has been published just as the National Institute of Clinical Excellence
(Nice) meet to decide whether to go ahead with plans to ban drug treatments
for Alzheimer's disease on the NHS."
I very much look forward to your input on this matter - if you wish to
contact me via written letter, my details are as follows:

Neil, if this is true, it is an awful shame. These drugs really do replace
certain missing chemicals in the brain, and they make a big difference in
the level of cognition. It will make patients more difficult to care for
ultimately, so I think it is a mistake.
