Hi all,

Today we will be burying Ida's cremains in her cemetery plot and having a
memorial service with her Pastor from her own church from NY city.

This way some of her old friends can attend.   She will be buried in the
same grave with her husband, her sister and sister's husband.    We waited
this long since her church is having a big memorial service today for all
their lost loved ones, and we wanted to include her in it.

This is the last thing we are doing for her, and doing it according to her
wishes, in her own religion.

The funeral/internment service and the group memorial service was about as
good as such a thing could possibly be.   We did run into a couple of Idas
old friends at the memorial service from her church, who were very glad to
see us and sad to hear of her passing.   One lady goes to that cemetery
often to visit her husbands grave, and she promised to bring some nice
flowers to plant over Ida.

What a gorgeous cemetery this one is, and it was a beautiful day.   Not a
blade of grass out of place, very scenic, manicured lawns and shrubbery
everywhere, and the songs of birds echoing.    A sweet elderly pastor from
Ida's own church did the honors, and I couldn't help but cry when he
produced a small vial of earth from Ida's homeland.   It was the perfect
touch.

We said goodbye to her today in the way she wanted it done.   Even though it
isn't our religion, we feel really good about having done things right for
her sake.   It was a long ride down and back and we only just got in a
little while ago, but it was the right thing to do.

The last step in a long journey.

Evelyn, indeed it was a long journey, but you traveled it beautifully.

Thank you Gwen.
I honestly never thought I was cut out for it, but somehow we managed.
It is amazing what one can do if one puts ones mind to it.

I really liked/like reading about everything y'all did for Ida. :-)

I've been sharing the journey here, and learning too, since the beginning.

It has been a great help from the good folks here, and I couldn't have
managed without them.

Hi Evelyn.

I have not posted here in a few years.  I, too, have enjoyed your posts about
Ida over the years... My Mother passed more than a year ago from Alzheimer's and
I have been lurking ever since.  Come to think of it have lurked here since
December 2000.

I shall offer a memorial prayer for Ida today - in my own way.  I will include
you and your family in this ceremony so that you receive protection and guidance
to help you through this troubling time.

Thanks for everything over the years -

Many thanks.
Your prayers are appreciated.

Actually it was in early 2000 that we discovered Ida was having "memory
problems."

Hi Evelyn

I am thinking of you, too at this time.  May she rest in peace.
