[Improvement in quality of life in the elderly. Results of a
placebo-controlled study on the efficacy and tolerability of lecithin
fluid in patients with impaired cognitive functions]

[Article in German]

Volz HP, Hehnke U, Hauke W.

Krankenhaus fur Psychiatrie, Psychotherapie und Psychosomatische
Medizin, Schloss Werneck.

Lecithin, a precursor of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, has a
positive effect on brain and memory functions. In a prospective,
randomized, double-blind study, the effect of buerlecithin fluid (BLF)
was investigated in comparison with placebo in patients with mild
cognitive disorders. A total of 96 ambulatory patients (> 55 years)
were admitted to the study. Treatment duration was 84 days. In both
treatment groups, a clear improvement in all the cognitive parameters
tested was seen. The main target measure, the overall Sandoz Clinical
Assessment Geriatric (SCAG) score improved by 18.7 (test substance) and
16.4 (placebo) points (p = 0.1620). A statistically relevant
improvement of the secondary target parameter, response in the SCAG
score, was achieved with BLF (85.4%) in comparison with placebo (62.5%)
(p = 0.018). Furthermore, BLF demonstrated significant superiority in a
number of the other target measures. The study also confirmed the very
good tolerability of BLF.

How interesting.

Can you clarify the significance and potential application of these results,
please?.

Oh, but I *am* interested, Tom.   It would be good of you to forget about
*me*, and concentrate instead on explaining the significance of the data
you've presented what they'd mean if applied in the real world instead of
just in the lab.

The trouble is that whenever (as is happening now) you're asked to explain
your stuff, you change the subject.

I can read somebody else's abstracts anytime I like, Tom.   I want to see
*your* explanation of the data and their meaning.

That's precisely the question I'd like to answer, myself: "Why?"

I figure by reading your own words explaining what is so important about all
these factoids you're always shoving in everyone's faces, I could understand
*why* it is that you're willing to - sometimes it even seems like you're
*trying* to - alienate yourself from all of humanity by doing so.

Tom does a search each day using a few search terms of iron, antioxidants,
etc.; or so he has confessed in his writings. If he thinks the results
don't support his iron causes all disease thesis he tosses it, otherwise
he blindly posts it.  Sometimes he messes up and some research showing his
thesis flawed gets through.  He generally doesn't understand what the post
says, doesn't understand the vocabulary it uses, and doesn't know how the
conclusions were derived or how it relates to anyother body of research in
general.  He posts if the search terms and some disorder shows up together
in one place.  He then cherry picks some phrase to support his thesis, but
usually doesn't explain how it does.  Often when the full article is read
it is seen that the cherry picking and editing cuts out other parts that
contridict what he wants us to see.  That is the extent and full
methodology of his "research"  and it is why he cann't/willn't discuss or
explain the post; he doesn't have the ability on many levels to do so and
wants to conceal that reality.

When someone asks a serious question of his post it is rare to get past
even one response without him attacking the person as the best he can
muster in answer.  I have posted research in specific detail which
dismantels each and every part of his thesis and the theology and the
science on which he constructed it.  Does it make a difference, no,
because the problem is not one science or logic or theology can address.
The problem resides with him and is a particular problem which explains
all but not otherwise relevant or useful to discuss.  That is why I have
ceased responding to the content of his posts and his personal attacks as
a kind of spiritual growth on my behalf, Lord have mercy on me.

keep taking the lecithin tommy. you're the only person here that
qualifies for the description of MORON.

dictionary.com:

moron n.

   1. A stupid person; a dolt.
   2. Psychology. A person of mild mental retardation having a mental
age of from 7 to 12 years

Sounds similar to the behavior my MIL exhibited pre-diagnosis.
Inappropriate responses, disjointed responses that make no sense, seeing and
responding to attacks that aren't there -- her problem was dementia.
Hmmm...
