I have 3 cats now. The 7 or 8 year old cat has always been a mostly
outside cat and only seldom comes in to eat. Poor thing never got a
name,so I just call her Cat. A very pretty long haired black and white
cat and a rather strange thing about her is that she's never had babies
even though some of the neighbors tomcats come around now and then. And
she's sort of scary, better than she used to be;but still I can seldom
pet her unless she's eating some food I've put out.

Then there is my black & white cat Trouble. :-) He's maybe 6 months old
and I wasn't very happy when someone dumped him on us when he was a
barely weaned kitten! But he became my favorite cat :-) and was soon
sleeping on my bed!LoL

Then someone dropped a young gray and white cat on us late last year. I
figured it was at least 6 months old;but less than one year old.
Poor, little cat-it was so scary and weeks and months went by,I didn't
fool with it much and it wouldn't let me get very close. Then lately
I've managed to pet it 3 or so times when I put out feed for it. I call
this one Middle Cat, as I have yet to give it a proper name either.

Couldn't tell yet if this cat was a boy or girl? But lately I noticed
its stomach was getting bigger! Uh oh! :-( Thought she was pregnant;but
had no idea how far or close to birthing?

Then there are my two hens who have been laying their eggs, all last
winter and spring, out in my little backyard doghouse.

Set one awhile back with some eggs and she hatched out 14 baby chickens
on April 21st. :-) And Mama Hen and babies have been doing fine and kept
the old doghouse as their home. Baby chicks sleep in there every night
under Mama Hen. :-) So this is the part about the Hen in the dog house!
:-)

Now today I was out back and looked in the doghouse to see if Mama Hen
and baby chicks were in there or not? And lo and behold there was my
little Middle cat laying in there and she already had one kitten and it
was nursing! LoL All told she ended up having 4 and I could see all of
them nursing her in there this evening. :-) So this is the part about
the cat in the hen house! :-) LoL

But what was I going to do now with that cat and her babies in where
Mama Hen and her babies slept at night?! Would I have to build another
shelter? Could, would they share the same house? Didn't have much time
to think on that as I had to go to town this evening and when I got back
I took a nap and didn't wake up until almost dark. Then I hurried out
back to the old doghouse to see what was going on? And there was Mama
Hen and her chicks under her in one part of that doghouse and Mama Cat
with her baby kittens on the other side and they're only a few inches
apart! But all seemed calm and getting along just fine! :-) LoL Don't
know what they will do in the morning;but for now all is well.

Onething about this one I call Middle Cat. To me she did the strangest
thing back last winter. She took up with my other hen. Followed her
around through the yard and pasture and I have even seen her rub up
against that hen just like the hen was another cat! LoL And the hen
obviously got to liking that cat as well. Just the other day Trouble was
bothering Middle Cat,being mean and ornary and wanting to wrassle and
play with her in his usual way-even though she didn't want to anymore.
Well,Trouble bothering Middle Cat made that hen upset! :-) And the hen
ran at Trouble, while shaking her wings at him and just letting him know
to behave himself or else! LoL And I've never seen Middle cat bother
either one of the hens or try to bother the baby chicks,
so I'm just hoping that her and Mama Hen will get along fine too in
sharing the doghouse between them and their babies!:-) We'll see?

Ronny:
Thank you. :-)

And yesterday evening, about dark,Middle Cat went back in the doghouse to
be with her kittens and Mama Hen went in too with her chicks,so they
surely seem to be getting along just fine for another night! :-)
And I surely hope this keeps working cause one of those chicks was up
against Mama cats back foot! LoL

Ronny, are they still sharing the doghouse?

That is such a nice story, I shared it with a couple of animal loving
friends!

Ronny:
For some reason Middle cat moved her kittens out of that doghouse a
couple of day ago. Don't know why? Been trying to watch her;but haven't
really had that much time to,so don't know where she put them?

Very tired tonight,so not much posting from me. (ha) Did get a good bit
done today though! :-)
