Anthony,

You are still quite new to this group and already you are telling people how
to post and pissing off the 'regulars' by playing "net nanny" and hassling
people for picayune nonsense.

I suggest maybe you would be better off lurking or at least just refrain
from flexing your muscles.

I pity your poor wife.  If you really do have Az, you are going to be a
handful (besides being an a.shole).

Even a.sholes can get Alzheimers, I suppose.

Gwen, I tried to respond via email but you address bounced. For what it's worth,
here's what I said:

On Mon, 21 Feb 2005 11:47:28 GMT, you wrote:

If your intention was to say that in private rather than in the group, thank
you--I would have valued it there too.

>I suggest maybe you would be better off lurking or at least just refrain

I'd be very grateful if you would identify for me how I flexed my muscles. My
intention was to make participants aware of usenet etiquette. I did try to word
it gently but I obviously failed miserably. I'd be very happy if you were to
demonstrate to me how it might be better worded--although, I think--you don't
believe it should be said at all. If so, we disagree about something at least.

I suspect that your emotions are related to Gwen's situation.

I've always realised that the carer of an AD patient is the person who suffers
the most. With regards to you comments about, I suspect it might be related to
Gwen; I have no regrets about what I said. At the same time, I also don't have
any animositly towards you for your comments above--I think most males are
a.sholes--although I prefer to spell it arseholes.

You should be pleased to know that I intend to preserve my wife from the ravages
of being an AD carer by, when the time comes, driving my motorcycle into a tree
or a bridge. If you'd like, I could send you a card so you can rejoice!

>Even a.sholes can get Alzheimers, I suppose.
No doubt.

In any event, I bear no malice for your comments. I wish the best for you and
the person you care for.

Wow. You know when I first began to post here again it was because
I really need to be here now. Mom is changing rapidly since this time
last year. I was told about my posts wrapping and stuff, and it
is so odd. I can hit the return key and it is probably fixing it, but
I truly cannot spend the mental energy to do One Other Thing.
I am very self sufficient, but I need to be here now. Mom has just
begun not eating. This is a place where everyone knows my joy,
and my grief about this. If someone tells me to post differently
I am just going to answer politely and do what I need to do.
I chose to keep Mom at home for this, but it is totally no
picnic. I am a superior nurse, with a good education
and a lot of experience with adolescents. :). Not a whole
lot of geriatric, but the net and a few here in this
group have taught me enough to get
Mom to this stage without injury, and without me dropping
or having to make the (for my situation) unpalatable
choice of a nursing home. Not going to pay a bit
of attention to anyone's idea of how I should post.
I will, when asked nicely, do something simple
like hit the return key. And I am not going away in
a huff because someone asks, as long as they
don't get in a huff when I say no. I can be easily
deleted by anyone who wants to do that.
in my tracks.

Oh Evelyn ... I can't imagine that you meant to respond to Anthony's post in
this way. This group is alt.support.alzheimers. Support, not tear down. Of
course Anthony's "poor wife" is going to find him a "handful" in the
fullness of time. All carers of dementia sufferers find their LOs a handful.
Anthony doesn't need to be reminded of that, and as for calling him an
a.shole ... I find your lack of compassion and understanding of the disease
quite confronting.

Nah! Give Evelyn a break--every AD carer deserves a long leash :-)

Evelyn, I have no animosity towards you--I hope your outburst was therapeutic
and gave you some release. I am still robust enough to take  criticism on the
nose--maybe just a bit too expectant of others to do so too. Forgive the stress
and upset I have caused for you. I'm not writing that for my self image but,
rather, to let you know that I am sorry for unsetting you unnecessarily--even if
it was unintentional--the message was directed to all posters for their own
benefit (oops, hope that does not come across as arrogant--yet again.

Hope tomorrow is better!

They certainly do, and from reading this newsgroup Evelyn has done more than
her fair share of time on a short leash.

I have no animosity for ANYONE here whatsoever.   I just don't want to see
people like Gwen have to feel like they should leave this group.   Gwen has
been absolutely wonderful to me and to everyone else for years now!

If she leaves because someone was picking on her posting style (something I
see absolutely nothing wrong with) I feel we will all suffer for it.

You are absolutely right.   I was not feeling very compassionate this
morning and I am sorry.

Everyone has a pet peeve.    Mine is "net-nanny" types who nit pick.

I hope this blows over and peace comes again to our newsgroup.

Of course it will Evelyn..You've been through so much with Ida, and I for
one have benefited .. hugely.. from you sharing your experiences with us. We
all need to let off steam occasionally. It's healthy :o)
