Just noticing the way criticism seems to affect this group.    It goes
quiet.

Usually caregivers are emotionally "frazzled" if not depressed and
exhausted, so at the first sign of squabbling, this group takes a little
mini-vacation.

No new posts here for a couple of days.

Is it safe to come back yet?    I'll start.

How are you all doing?

Evelyn-

It's not criticism, it's the hope that someone will just stop arguing)
about whatever strikes their fancy
that day.
Most of us have or have hadt enough of that already.  This is a kind
and caring group, so we do it the only way possible .

Well,I have a couple of other groups I like to post in,one of those on a
daily basis and other things to do,so,so far I haven't been able to keep
up with reading all the posts in here as I had rather do. And yes,I was
more than a little surprised at the recent squabbling in here. Don't no
why really as I'm used to that popping up now and then in other groups.

Don't know if I'm depressed right now or not?  Sometimes rather not talk
about that or think or it 'cause I might find out that I am! LoL Not too
frazzled right now either; but then I got a good and much needed nap
yesterday evening! LoL

Ronny:
Hmmm. Not sure how I'm doing? :-) Oh no,I'm pretty good. (ha) Just now
trying to talk Mom into letting me help her change her wet Depends.
She's not going for it yet. (sigh) So will try again in a few minutes.

The home health care lady was out sick yesterday and don't know yet if
she will be able to come today? If she does it will be in 2 to 3 hours.
And if she does I need to drive over to a local farm store and get the
spare tire fixed for my truck. It's been flat lately even though I add
air to it before I go to town. So I better get that fixed now before I
go to town again or sooner or later I'm going to end up on the side of
the road with a flat tire and no good spare tire to get me on home! (ha)

Evelyn, you may live to regret encouraging me to talk! LoL It doesn't
take much and I'm off here, there and yonder talking about all sorts of
things! LoL

Don't hesitate for a minute, Ronnie... that is what the group is here for.

I'm now back on my regular dose of antidepressant so maybe my skin won't be
so thin now.  Anyway, I promise not to squabble; I'll bite my tongue first!

Hi, everyone,
I felt very alone when there were no posts for a couple of days.  It was a
little wake-up call to remind me that my computer has a reply button as well
as the receive button.

I agree that caregivers are frazzled or depressed or exhausted (or all of
the above) and who needs criticism on top of that?  We're doing the best we
can.

I have been dealing with the driving issue.  We've been through a driving
evaluation,, consultation with the doctor, driving "refresher" lessons,  and
(upcoming) a re-evaluation.  It has been going on for over two months - not
an easy time for us.

On the plus side, Larry started Namenda about two months ago (in addition to
Reminyl) and I see definite improvement.  Hurrah for small victories!
So, how are the rest of you getting along and what are you dealing with?

Guess I missed the squabbling (no need to rehash it for me,thanx) one
thing I have noticed in my own life is that if it is not going well
with Dad instead of blowing up about the major things that I cannot
fix, it is very likely that the meter reader will be yelled at for
driveing on the lawn or maybe the paperboy didn't leave the paper in
the exact place it is spose to be,and that idiot at the 7/11 who can't
make change gets a really nasty look, and think that maybe happened
here among a usually very civilized group, we use each other as a
sounding board, and rarely as a target. BTW You are doing a good job!
God Bless

Nothing much happening here. It's winter and I have the attention span of a
gnat.

It's school break for the kids and we're having a fairly quiet week. Most of
my kids friends went away, but they have been content. They are going
snow-tubing tomorrow afternoon. It's the big thing for the week. I did take
my son to see "Because of Winn Dixie" while my daughter saw "The Aviator."
We enjoyed it. It was a sweet film, so rent it if you don't want to be in a
theatre where the average age is 7.

Wishing all well!

I'm around... lurking... on overload right now with work... business is
going SO well!  MIL  is feeling put upon/neglected, I think...  one more
month and then things will slow down a bit.... hopefully NOT with the
business end, but have a break from teaching all but 2 of my courses, so
might have time to breathe again. She's taken to throwing kiddie type suck
attacks ... take me to work with you, etc etc... manageable  - sometimes
almost funny - but sad.

had swallowing assessment - some indications that there's a problem, but "we
noticed it earlier than most" ... advice given re: foods/choking/etc...  but
doesn't need fluids thickened "yet"

had a weekend off last weekend ... helped a bit, but .... planning for
another one in a month or so ... need something to look forward to to make
the now tolerable.

Father officially diagnosed with AZ finally, but evil stepmother doesn't
need/want my "interference" ...  preventing even the briefest of visits
(offered to drive 3 hours each way to take him out for coffee for 1 frigging
hour  while she was at work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  - she said no and I don't have
the energy to fight that fight right now)  He's always let her have her way;
not like it's new - I give up.

both my kids FINALLY HAVE JOBS... that's a load off!  One off school next
week and wants to come up, but told her not worth it...I'm just too busy to
have time & energy to spare ...she's old enough to cope, but won't .... will
sulk ... and I just can't deal with that right now.

anyway .... bedtime ....

frazzled... yep...that's me

I'm great Evelyn, thanks for asking.  I took a leave from USENET
during the writeup of my thesis (I now make drugs :-) and wanted to
drop in and say Hi to the group that no one wants to join!  So, Hi,
Evelyn, Dennis, Mary, Adelle, Gwen and everyone else.

Hope things are going well,
Darryl.
p.s., good to see a lack of colloidal silver posts ;-)
