Easy, isn't it?"
Betty and I tried this a few years ago with our son, Dennis. And you see what the result is, don't you?
Nightwing - 07 Feb 2005 21:14 GMT Dennis your pet troll is loose again. Did you forget to lock the cage?

And you > see what the result is, don't you? Nightwing - 08 Feb 2005 00:00 GMT I see we have the latest ambassador from the planet Stoopid here. Listen Capt. Whiz-bang Jr. I have no idea what your problem is with Dennis, and I don't care. But both of you should be locked in a small room until you sort it out or you screw each others brains out, and again I don't care what you choose. Just find a more private location to do it. You both are becoming tiresome and counter-productive to what this group was formed to do.

People, this person is trying to flood the newsgroup "is.matur". When you respond to this post without removing the other group to which he sent it, you are also sending your response there. He will also have sent similar targetted messages to many other groups, all of your replies make no difference here in terms of volume, but mean that that other group is deluged with thousands of posts. Can I suggest, when responding to stupid posts like this , (1) you dont, and (2) if you feel you do want to reply please take such possibilities into account and remove the additional newsgroup in the 'to' list.

Tumbleweed - 10 Feb 2005 20:00 GMT sarah, this is an attempt (probably successful) to 'flood' a group with messages by 'baiting' naive people to respond. They respond, and their message goes not only to Az newsgroup, but also to the other newsgroup, in this case 'is.matur' (which I removed before sending. Multiply this by hundreds of times, each to a group *and* is.matur, and the thousands of replies end up on is.matur, 'flooding' it, and making it unusable.
next time you see a troll message DONT REPLY and if you feel the need to, DONT REPLY, and if yoy still feel the need, remove the additional newsgroup. If you feel responding is useful, remember that the original sender will *never* read your message.
If you think this is trivial, imagine this newsgroup with perhaps 10,000 messages in it, 99.999% of which are nothing to do with Az. The group becomes unusable until the flood subsides.
BTW, you might want to disguise your email address unless you like spam. 'robots' harvest email addresses from usenet, you can expect to be getting emails re viagra, xxx sites, mortgages and university degrees shortly.
HTH.

Every month or so, using a fictitious name, this troll floods 5000 newsgroups (all cross-posted to a single low-traffic but unrelated newsgroup) with superficially relevant comments. The purpose is to disrupt with off-topic crosspostings.
Like all trolls, he means to annoy and disrupt. The tracking newsgroup is the way he "keeps score" of how much damage he has caused. Don't put yourself on display in his trophy case. Like all trolls, the way to handle him is to IGNORE him.
Browse the is.matur newsgroup, his current score card, for Dan Simper.
Browse the scot.tld newsgroup, his current score card, for Bruno Beam.
He is known as the "anagram troll" because his fictitious names are often discovered to be anagrams (for example "Dan Simper" is an anagram of "spare mind", Bruno Beam is an anagram of "Unabomber").
This guy is a serious troll with a serious problem. Don't be one of his trophies.
