Phantom deja vu

Whenever I watch a TV program, I seem to experience phantom deja vu.

My wife freaks out because I'm always saying I've watched it and she insists
it's not been shown before.

What is strange for me is that it never happens at the cinema, or during ads,
comedy, news, etc.

Does anybody know of others with similar experience? How do they feel about/deal
with it?

A local man described what seemed to be something similar to deja vu but
involving smell instead of sight?

I'm wondering if the TV is setting off very very mild seizures - which
can give you odd deja vu sensations.

See this article for why I'm thinking along those lines.

Another interesting article - the connection between brain damage in a
specific part of the brain causing deja vu - same part of the brain
that appears to be affected early in AD

part of it could be that so many plots are recycled in TV shows.
some mystery/crime shows are based on novels and short stories
published in magazines or books years ago, and you may have read
some of them.  and much TV is just plain repetitious, with only
minor details changing.

at a time when your neural wiring is just starting to misconnect
as well as disconnect, it wouldn't be surprising to have deja vu
feelings, especially if your short term memory was not working
well.

doesn't feel like it's the plots to me; more like all the scenes.

That could still apply to most TV shows :-)
