denise, presumably that would depend on your local soc service, so its
probably not something that can be answered in general, as in one area they
might have holiday replacements arranged and in another, not. Did you get
these messages from different people in the same department?

yes, I spoke to somebody in the homehelp office which deals with my
mother and was told dementia cases were covered during bank holiday
periods yet the very next day a message was left for me by her social
worker saying there would be no cover at Xmas/New Year. I am womdering
have we been short-changed here all along and they just took advantage
of fact that family members would/should cover instead? the social
worker who runs our local carers' support group is to look into this
for me and get back to me soon!

Follow -up
Spoke to Social Worker from Carers' Support group and she has it
"SORTED"! We now have the partial cover we wanted over Xmas & New Year
hols. She agreed they were probably 'trying it on' - just goes to show
that if you don't insist on more help you won't get it......
