donnah, thanks for asking. this is the most painful thing i have ever
experienced, to tell you the truth. i am on pain meds round the clock and
they barely touch it. just praying for the time to pass quickly do that i
can get some relief. sleep is nearly impossible, getting 2 minutes of
comfort as much so. doctor says 6 to 8 weeks, and it is only two since the
surgery, so i am just going to have to be strong and try and get through
it. hubby has been a prince taking care of me and doing all the cooking
and cleaning too. just getting a shower is a major production. i have
an apparatus sticking out of my shoulder with metal rods going inside to
hold the bones in place. don't ever fall and break your shoulder! it's
awful. there won't be a holiday season for me this year. the good wishes
of so many have been heartening though....

oh, Evelyn, I am so very sorry...
and I have no words of comfort that seem adequate right now! please
know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Evelyn,
So sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I'm thankful that at least there
seems to be a lull in Ida's illness so you can take care of yourself without
feeling like you are neglecting her too badly. Do the doctors think anything
like acupuncture or biofeedback or meditation might help? My broken hand was
not nearly so bad but even so I learned the pain meds had their limits. If
nothing else, they had a disconcerting way of wearing off in the middle of
the night!!

hi songbird, all of that can happen after some degree of healing takes place
first. i have all i can do to get from one hour to the next just now. it
would mean getting dressed and out for a painful ride in the car anyway. i
will see the dr tomorrow to get the stitches out.

Evelyn, it is a real blessing that you don't have Ida at home to look after
now. Sorry about all the pain; hope the time will pass quickly for you.

ouch! i'll pray for your healing. just wondering if you have
tried any meditation to try to mitigate the pain. i do know that
meditation can help promote healing, too.
i'm sure glad that you don't have to take care of ida on top of
this injury...
best wishes,
dennis
